I tried that and the cat leapt on me and the wine went everywhere, been cleaning it up all evening.
Just been outside and its lots warmer here now that it was a couple of hours a go. very odd. Anyway, its toasty inside under the duvet no, only problem is I won't want to leave the really snug nest downstairs to go upstairs.0 -

Its not as cold a morning as yesterday morning here in the air, but I spilled some wet horse food, that was not frozen in the bucket overnight, and it froze on the ground instantly. Its bright and sunny though. Upstairs is airing, but the sitting room is still snug so I'm not going to air it, just trap the heat in instead. The condensation is grim this morning.
My DH (who works away from home on weekdays) might get home early today, so we'll be able to warm each other up later.
edit: the reason the condensation is grim is because its frozen on again! I've scraped off what I can with a microfibre cloth and come down stairs. Its obviously a little colder than I've realised. I've put on a small electric heater for the cat upstairs. The other cats are a bit cold but one is snuggled up on the duvet I had on the sofa last night and the other has gone outside to play n the cold sun. The dogs are asleep and the skinny one has a coat on to help her.0 -
Quite pleased, took my meter readings for the last week, only used 168 kwh of gas, which compares to 315 during a week of similar temperatures earlier in the year.
We used to have the boiler switch on automatically at 5pm and off at 10.30pm, now we manually put it on at 5pm for two hours, and then wait until we begin to feel the chill and put it on again for an hour. This then seems to hold the temperature for the rest of the evening.
Its still set automatically for 30 mins in the morning, thermostat unchanged from last year at 17.5deg.
If we manage to keep this up, I guess all we will of achieved is to absorb the price hike, and will not see any less going out of our pockets.
I'm amazed how many people I have spoken to, who are watching what they are using gas/electricity wise, people who I have previously thought of as being well off!
This week last year the average daily temp was 11.1deg this week its 5.7deg, that's quite a difference, still put it down to global warming!0 -
Last night was awful in this house. Out all day till about 4pm and whacked heating on as soon as we got home. Several hours later I was sat on sofa shivering under 3 blankets with slippers and cardis etc, house just would not seem to warm up! So I did something I never do, left the heating on to click on at 16' overnight as we're in all day today and didn't want to spend all morning warming the house up! Has worked out nicely though as now we have it on 17' and it feels warm enough.:heartpulsSpoiling my two baby girls with love - it's free and it's fun!:heartpuls
I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?

We've had the heating on in the evenings' for a few hours for the past couple of weeks. Although I'm at home all day, I've managed to avoid putting it on during the day. Yesterday it felt really chilly when I got up and when I checked the outside temp it was -3, but I warmed up once I got going, so didn't need to put it on. This morning was even worse though; it's -6 out there at the moment:eek: so I've had to put it on:D0

I have mine on a timed thermostat but the timer is a bit off and got up this morning and it hadn't come on yet - brrrrrrrrrrr! Was 11 degrees inside till I adjusted the timer minus 2.5 outside according to our weather station!
I set mine to 17 atm and thats comfy for usPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Gas fire went straight on this morning and now its lovely and warm in the living room. It will stay on till children get home from school then will put CH on for a while whilst homework/tea is done.
Keep warm
