  • I had to do an hour last night, friend popped round and although I was fine in 4 layers, socks and slipper boots, I could tell it was pretty nippy.

Back off now and for the remainder this week, hopefully fiance wont want it on at the weekend. Can just see £20 notes wafting up and out the window! lol

Trying to keep it off as much as possible, nipping out to do weekly readings, want to drive it down!! £125 is just too much per month

sunnyday and shegar -I agree with you both;I wish I could hibernate too.The darkness of winter and severe cold really get me down.

I never understand people who say 'Bring on the snow/love winter.'.
TBH I am really aware of the difficulties faced by wild birds and animals in the winter months, especially with snow or freezing conditions.Such a hard life and another reason I don't like winter.

I feed the birds and put out water every day in the winter months, and put out water every day for the rest of the year.
Water is often very difficult to come by in winter for wildlife,if everything is frozen.Even just putting out a saucer of fresh water every day can be so beneficial.

Cold here again with rain and wind,,heating came on at 6 this morn, at 21 degrees it was very comforting :D....

Me too feed all the birds in the garden, ive got a big feeding station with nyger for the goldfinches, sunflowers, seed, fat balls an pea nuts, the birds come and go all day, their all swinging to anf fro with the winds ,,, which my disabled can sit in his recliner and watch through the windows.....

Would you believe me if I said I cant live without nature and wildlife but I can live without human beings..!!!!!...

Mine's still off and will keep it that way! Not got a fireplace or anything, was thinking about making some kind of indoor stove! Does get cold, have to go to bed fully clothed :rotfl:

Why not buy a electric blanket for the bed, they are very cheap to run, and a nice hot water bottle, I could never sleep fullly clothed...
  • lol Thanks Shegar! Dont worry... got my wooly slippers, socks, leggings under trakkie bottoms - blanket & hot water bottle for when I get home tonight!!

determined not to use it this year!!

Ugh I feel like a total southern softie...........

I have not succumbed to the mornings yet as feel it is easy to get motivated and have a warm bath .... but.... I do have it on in the evenings for about 4 hours........

and I must say some weekends I work but if I am off it is hard to not just put it on...... although I must say I am getting better - socks trackie bottoms t shirt and BIG CARDIE and fleecy blanket over legs when just sitting around....... I am determined to get my bills down this winter (not sure mr Looloo approves!)

Really? I had no idea! No point !!!!ing money up the wall, whatever century we're in ;)

Absolutely right. No point being a miser either. If you are cold, then heating can and should be used.

in my life i have a conflict between keeping the heating off and keeping healthy and warm--if i get flu and not able to work i dont get any money so being very extreme actually costs me more than depriving myself and my family of heat--i have recently lost 2 stone and i am on the thin side now so feeling the cold more than ever--where i am it hasnt been very cold but i have a miserable sinus cold which started because i got caught in a draught at my school-at home i am responsible--my wife and step daughter let me dictate the temperature because i am more savvy with a combi and pay the bill!!
