Yes, certain virii need cold temperatures.
This is why the body creates a high temperature, to make the body inhospitable to the virus.
They will spread at any temperature but some strains require real cold .mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
on. I've give in! Not only am I nursing a cold, but the condensation defied airing the house for a few hours...the weather was dry but the air still damp outside, and not much of a breeze, I guess that's why. I'm actually still ok most of the time, with just the occasional 2 hours of heating every now and then, not daily or anything, just to warm up the house, but the house is asking for more...0

Our heating is still OFF!
It was very mild last week, if the cold weather lasts, i will probably put the heating on next weekend. The flat is still nearly 19 degrees.
Am i the only crazy one out there!:j0 -
ours has been off a good few days now, im not cold at the moment, cooked a roast dinner tonight so that will have helped no washing to dry tonight and little ones all tucked up in bed with a hot water bottle, vie got a hot choc here and a blanket if needed, all being well i shouldn't need mine on till thursday/friday unless it gets really cold

sunnyday and shegar -I agree with you both;I wish I could hibernate too.The darkness of winter and severe cold really get me down.
I never understand people who say 'Bring on the snow/love winter.'.
TBH I am really aware of the difficulties faced by wild birds and animals in the winter months, especially with snow or freezing conditions.Such a hard life and another reason I don't like winter.
I feed the birds and put out water every day in the winter months, and put out water every day for the rest of the year.
Water is often very difficult to come by in winter for wildlife,if everything is frozen.Even just putting out a saucer of fresh water every day can be so beneficial.0 -

I love winter and wildlife. Today I delighted in watching a wagtail take a bath, and the birds eat and drink well here, but the freezes also feel rally clean....last year was harsh and hard work feeding and watering animals when pipes froze but their feet, which in milder winter's have been prone to thrush and other foot problems were superb... Its a balance, but there are blessings in a cold winter: frozen ground gets less damaged meaning less harm to grasslands etc.
Feed the birds is important now, but enjoying the seasons is good too....and a want to hibernate probably as natural....:)0
