LOL! The bit about scraping the ice off the car was just to illustrate how cold it was - I wasn't suggesting that the heating would make any difference to my car (parked on the road outside....):rotfl:

Thanks for that,It just made me laugh to read it..LOL..:D nice out today sunny too.:)

Iv'e just seen you're from the north. My you're tough! I chickened out weeks ago and hit the 'on' switch.

You will laugh when you get your bill and I shall weep when I get mine.:(

I wept lat year when I got mine in Jan and it came to £230 for gas alone for 3mths

Weakening today as it is cold and miserable and damp - its still off for now

Trying to stay strong for another week - mind you how much difference will it make if it stays off for another week?

Our is still off! The best thing about it is that the kids stay tucked up in bed longer so I actually got a lie in this morning for the first time in months! :D Dd is always up first and waking the boys up usually around 6.30am but today she didnt get out of bed until I went to get her and she is alot less tired. Normally on a weekend she is practically falling asleep by now and doing alot of screaming! So heating will be staying off!!! :D

mines been off today so far, actually quite mild today.
I will lose 2 stone by this summer!!!!!!
  • Was hoping to keep it off till 1nov and then only use sparingly till its very cold . It's half term this week so i will have extra laundry to get dry and if it continues to rain every day i don't think i'll be able to keep it off damp laundry makes house feel even colder than usual even with the dehumidifier on so i will have to heat the house in order to dry the clothes although i might cheat a little and iron straight from the wash then i'll be warm while im decreasing and drying off the clothes they shouldn't take as long then to airdry especially now my son in law has move my airer onto the wall in the hall above the radiator will still need to keep it off a lot of the time my winter bill last year was around £160 for 3 months and i had a bit of credit on account to pay that but this year i haven't got a lot of credit built up not sure why? next year will be different though as i will try to plan ahead more

The heating still off here in my little bit of Sunderland, it's been surprisingly mild the past couple of days. What happened to these arctic winds we were supposed to be getting?

All we've needed so far is an extra blanket at night.:D

Another wonderful balmy day today. I was out and about in Central London and it was sunny and quite pleasant. Some rain and cold gusts at one point but didn't last long. Here at home I'm nice and warm and no heating on. Eight more days to go before I even consider it! :A

I can't agree with balmy Quasar, are you sure you don't mean "barmy"?

Just back of the envelope maths, but 230/12 weeks is a very rough £20 a week so not so bad really if you say it quick- like.
So each week without would save £20 less whatever gas you use for hot water and cooking.

I think I feel a bit better about being such a chicken now.
