Another one still off
Have knocked my thermometre down the back of a unitso dont know what the actual temp is. Really must dig it out at some point today!! DS came through early this morning and climbed back into bed with me and we lay all snuggled up for another half hour. I could tell it was cold so when we got up I popped the gas heater on for 20 mins on low to take the chill off the living room but its back off now and staying that way. Trying to keep the actual heating off until at least Nov and think I'll prob make it.
Wee peek out the window (curtains still closed) and everything has a rather sparkly frost covering it. I love morning like thisEmma

We have had ours on for a bit over the past week, but it's off today. We have noticed that our boiler can't seem to cope with the heating and hot water at the same time. The water is normally nice and hot, but when the heating is on it goes tepid very quickly - and a cold shower is not very pleasant! The boiler has been serviced, and we had to have someone out last week to repair it as some water had got on to one of the pumps and shorted it out, so I don't know what the problem is. As we are hoping (courtesy of MIL) to be able to buy our own house soon, I think we'll just have switch the heating off when someone wants a shower.0

Mines permanently on the thermostat now, if the inside temp drops below 17 it clicks on, it doesn`t seem to be on all that much but i`ve far less condensation in the house and the chill has been banished :j
Little old doggie is much more comfortable and thats made me feel much better about it.
The last couple of days the temp outside has really warmed up but last night was a cold one and it got down to minus one again. That was the outside temp when i woke this morning so i`m not sure if it got lower or not. Its now one degree outside and its crisp and sunny, inside is 17 degrees and that seems just perfect to me.
It feels good knowing that the stat is doing its job and will only click the heating on when its needed - far better than having heat belting out all the time just because we`ve got used to it, this is how it will run until next year now.

I now know its time to have the heating on as my three Greyhounds who are usually in the same room as me have all gone back upstairs onto their duvets. I swear if they could talk they would say "its freezing in here, are you mad?"
I am sat at my computer with 3 layers on and fingerless gloves. There is weak sunshine outside.
I have just moved the fish bowl as the goldfish is looking odd, the bowl is really cold.
When I went out to feed the chickens the door was frozen solid so I guess winter has arrived.Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.0 -
Still off, there was a bit of a struggle between me and my thermostat this morning but a hot shower soon warmed me up. The sun's shining although it's bitterly cold outside so I've got at least 2 layers on all over
and am just going out for lunch in a nice warm room. When I get back I have the heat from the 2 mogs and dog who insist on being my knee and shoulder rugs so will keep hanging on til Nov.
I was an Army brat and Army wife so am used to a short heating season, and us old 'uns are made of stern stuff, we have to be. Until the day a government understands the cost of fuel is too much for a pensioner I'll [have to] carry on as I always have. Thank goodness for :money:0 -
Hi
Still off here. Sunny and cold in London.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -
I agree, GetRealBabe, sunny but chilly today. So I stayed in bed until 10
and read a wee bit, then walked to the the high street for a spot of shopping(walking keeps the body warm), and now I'm sitting here in my usual warm apparel and a hot cuppa. A nice, long hot bath later on will provide me with enough heat to last me the evening. :A
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
