Well thats our heating been put on tonight. Put it on high, then bled the radiators, but for some reason the one in the hall is stone cold, its in the middle of the circuit, not needing bled so I am stumped. Any ideas, we dont have a pressure gauge so cant measure the pressure, the boiler is two years old and is a condensing one. ?Fingers crossed I can work something out before I have to call out the heating engineer!

I have turned mine on today just for half hour in the morning for when I get out of the shower and an hour or so in the evening to take the chill off.

Its forecast to get cold later on this week.

The valve is probably stuck in (the bit the other end of the radiator to the turny bit)

Still off, but the woodstove on (and as we picked up a lot of nice logs from a skip, we felt really ok to burn a bit of wood for comfort).

I might have a hot water bottle in bed tonight, though, as I am still under the weather.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    This happened with ours.

Sometimes the pin sticks under the dial, you need to release that slightly.

You know the dial on the radiator that you adjust for the temp, look closely and there is a silver bit just below the dial. You need to unscrew that and the temp dial will lift off.

You will see a little brass pin thing which will probably have become stuck down.

My husband got a flat head screwdriver and just pushed this pin slightly and it lifted up a bit, sometimes they pop up.

Be gentle though as you don't want it to come out, just push it in gently from the side and try to lift it up gently. Once it has risen just put your temp dial back on and screw that silver bit back on.

This happened with all of ours and they are working fine again now.

We do have central heating cover but I found how to do this on the net and is saved getting the engineer out.

When this happened last year we did get the engineer out and he said if it happens again give it a tap with a mallett. Stuff that!

    Hope this help.

    ;)
  • Mines still off - I usually try and hold out for November but got to 28th Oct last year! it's definately getting colder, I'm down South too. I've got a gas fire in the lounge & i've put that on a couple of times and just put jumpers ;& extra blankets on the beds! my DS who is 9 has said something once but he's got an extra duvet on his bed too - hate putting the heating on really and especially as bills so high.....and we also all get colds as soon as you put the heating on too! so I'm trying to hang on with hot water bottles & extra jumpers!!! :j
