    I've been Money Tipped!
OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF.

    But close to breaking.
  • Mine is on low in the evening 6-10; but it now looks like might have to put it on in the morning for an hour too - DH is complaining! Will keep it on low for now.

No one in all day (except the cat!) so not on during the daytime.

We have resisted putting the gas fire on in the front room - light candles instead for that warm glow - hoping to hold out till 01 Dec for that one - but we will see how it goes.

UPDATE - our heating wasn't actually working very well, then after a few minutes the RCD tripped. I changed the fuse and it blew instantly - three times! The repairman is fixing it now - water dripping on to the pump which was shorting it out. So no heating on here atm (by default!:D). Oh, and we had no hot water either :(.

i put it on sunday morning.

saturday was hubby's b-day so thought i'd let him have a lay in on sunday. kids woke at 7, and boy it was cold. but dressing gowns and slippers on thought be ok. got downstair and even tho we got lots of insultation when went into the extention you could see you breath. opened the curtains and saw a light frost. that was it. heating went on for an hour. was fab. but when the sun came out it did get alot warmer.

the way the temps are going don't think heating will be off for long. as i've said before i'm happy to bundle in jumpers , but when the kids go to bed and say they are cold even with lots of blankets and thick pj's on. then i'm gonna put it on without a second thought.
  • Weve just over the weekend started putting ours on for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening for the kids baths :).

As a trade off though im using the radiators instead of the dryer to dry clothes ;)!!

That in my head makes it alright lol!!!

we had ours on yesterday and again for an hour this morning

my boys were freezing, 1 has asthma all 3 have coughs and colds, so it went on for around an hour before bath time, my washing is taking longer to dry so looks like mine will be on daily in the evening

we have high ceilings and a open fireplace (just no fire) so 2 of the room seem so cold, this winter will be slightly easier to keep check as im on pre payment meters (only type landlord allows) so keeping a check on how much we spend

wednesday is bed day as such so fleeces going under sheets and must get 2 more hot water bottles
    Debt free

YAY! The boiler is fixed. I've decided we don't need the heating on atm though, but I'm glad it's fixed for when we do need it. DS lit the fire using his scouting skills, so the lounge is cosy and warm.

At least you found there was a problem now so it's fixed in time for the cold weather we seem due to get!
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Still trying to abstain until the 1st November here. Not sure if we'll get through the predicted cold spell that's coming up without it, though. We live in a 3 bed, single glazed, 3 storey terraced, so might need to have it on for a couple of days, and then off again....We'll see.

At least for now, we're heat free :)
