  • Morning! Still not on here. Walked back from the theatre at 10:30 last night in a sleeveless top, and it was very comfortable, just like July.

Hoping to hold out until November.

LOL, isn't that reaching the point when being MSE turns into being a total scrooge? I have this image of someone in artic gear and fingerless gloves sat in a room with frost on the inside of the windows.

Nah, it's MSE Old Style ;)

I remember when all we had was a coal fire and you were alright whichever part of your body faced the fire, but still cold on the parts which didn't.

What did you think of them? Any good? And is the £7.99 for the top plus leggings or just for one or the other?

It's quite good actually. You get the top and the leggings and they aren't like the ones that I had as a child very lightweight and also breathable. I've got them on now with my dressing gown over them and don't even feel the need to put the heating on.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
  • Finally caved in and let OH put heating on briefly in evening and morning. He says he feels guilty about ds (2 1/2) sleeping in a cold room. I don't as ds is usually sweating hot under 1 blanket if i have to go in in the night. I do feel bad about him getting out the bath when it is cold though so I relented against my better judgement!

I still haven't put mine on yet, apart from 30 minutes to test if the boiler was working ok.
I was hoping to last out until 1st November and it has become a matter of principle to me now lol.I am sitting here with a big fleece on,thick socks and freezing cold hands, but I am not going to give in.

I have had the gas fire on the lounge a couple of evenings for half an hour.

The weather forecast this morning said it is going to turn quite cold by the weekend,so I will see how it goes.
I feel really proud of myself for lasting this long, the thought of the money I am saving has kept me going.

I put my heting on last night for an hour because the house had been shut up for nine days and felt cold. I'm using the TD daily now (on econ 7 of course) but will switch light stuff to the airers once the rads are on more regularly. Sunny and warm here in the emids so not heat on now!

I haven't put mine on yet. Usually its on from September, so I'm quite impressed!
When my DD was put up for gas and electric, I went crazy, turning all electrical stuff off standby and not using the TD, but when the latest bill came in its actually made no difference to my electricity bill at all!! I think its cause my DH works from home and we have lots of laptops and servers on 24/7.
It seems it was the gas bill that made my DD's go up, so I'm trying to hold out for as long as possible.
  • It was my son's 8th birthday party yesterday - and I can report that having seven kids running wild through your house for two hours is a marvellous form of heating! We had all the windows wide open and were still sweating buckets. You do, of course, need to be deaf and not proud of your carpets. ;)
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:

Isn't this a false economy? A single gas fire tends to be more expensive to run than most central heating systems.
