Was chilly here so it went on again for around 30 mins... I love my little house. It warms up quick and then keeps the heat for ages, seem to just need a 30min blast every couple of days :)

Thanks to cavity wall insulation and a well insulated loft and new windows :)
  • Ours is back on today, first time for a week or so I think. Just for a couple of hours on the timer. I can really feel the drafts this week.
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x
  • It's still off here which we are happy about. We haven't even used our hot water bottles yet during the night and we are barely using our snuggles during the day/afternoon/evening at the moment. I have noticed that if a loaf is done in the breadmaker that it heats the flat up nicely anyway and it's the same when something is cooked on the hob or in the oven. We do have several hot drinks during the day such as coffee, tea, hot chocolate etc.

The thing is when we do put the heating on eventually (hopefully not untill the 1st of November) we won't be able to put it on higher than 17/18C as we have chinchillas which will save us money on heating :rotfl:.

  • Mine's still not on. Weekend was amazingly hot here, car said 22 degrees! I wasn't prepared for that and had to put the air conditioning on I was so hot, it was mad.

House tends to say 18 degrees which I'm perfectly comfortable at, has started dropping in the last day or so though. I tried out our gas fire (haven't lived there long) when it got chilly the other day and it's a ferocious little thing and warmed the living room up in no time so I can see us using that instead of the central heating in the evenings.

In the morning it is slightly chilly but not bad so I'm putting the fan heater on me while I get dressed.

Oh and we also have the windows permanently ajar, they are lockable like that. Really pleased we bought this house, it's great :)

We are still soldiering on but have been helped by warm(ish) weather here in London. If we crack up it is normally around the last few days of October (we are challenging ourselves to stick to no central heating till 1st November), but so far so good. We will see how it goes. I have been ill with a bad cold but managed to stay warm by wearing extra layers and blankets in bed, now feeling much better and positive that this year we might make it to the deadline (I hope).

Usual user-friendly warning: please note that this challenge is only to ourselves and our own family - if you feel that keeping the heating off is affecting your health and/or wellbeing, please treat yourself kindly and switch it on!:-)
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Heating still off, it's very chilly but we only got in this evening and will be going to bed in a few hours so we can make do with blankets till bedtime i think.

Nope still not on here. Its been pretty mild throughout the day but is getting chilly in the morning and evening. I feel cold even when the sun is blazing so i always wear an extra layer the kids are still wearing short sleeve t-shirts and shortie pjs in the morning without dressing gowns so I know they're not cold;).I use my slanket if i'm cold and always have thick socks and have a hot water bottle at night. Will wait for the dressing gowns and such to start being worn as an indication that the heating needs to go on. Mind you saying that both of my neighbours have got their heating on and I think this is what is keeping our house warm so free heating:D may be able to keep it off a little longer if they crank theirs up:)
