  • Still off here so far. But it really hasn't felt cold in the house or I would have put it on. Don't know if we'll make it to November though.
    Put the kettle on. ;)

Ah yes! the famous battle of the thermostats, waged in many homes all over Great Britain. Epic stuff.:rotfl:

Yes, it dipped to 18C in the living room last night, so I turned on the heating for the missus. I came back in the room after half an hour and it was lovely and warm, about 21C, so I turned the heating off.
A quick hint for anyone with radiator covers. If you can take them off easily, then the room will warm up in no time. They are just for decoration anyway, but they stop a lot of heat circulating.

    Hiya happyin devon,
That sounds like a mega cool digital thingy, we had a new boiler last year, thank goodness as the winter was awful.

We only have very basic CH controls, them thermo do-dads on each radiator and a timer, maybe just as well as I don't do complicated.

have to say how to work digital thingy is a COMPLETE mystery to hubby!! which is handy as if he had his way the house would be heated to tropical temps,as it is he picks up dig panel, fiddles with it,cant work it,and ends up putting on a jumper, result:T

  • I have put my heating on. Just one storage heater (only have 2) on low as going away for a few days and the house was freezing last time we were away, plus I have an old sick cat in the house (don't want him to be cold now do I?), and my little boy gets wheezing if the place get damp so it's on now.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I am refusing still! I have finally got my point across that the cost of 3 new extra duvets is still cheaper than a weeks worth of heating.

The beds look like they have an extra mattress due to the duvet and fleeces under the sheets.

I look like i have an asbo (hoodies are a god send) ds is point blankly refusing to remove his Thomas sleep suit and i have bought out oxfam of all blankets, hoodies, dressing gowns and beanie hats for the kids....when i find them sleeping in their hats i'l put the heating on.

Yes it's definitely chillier today here in London. I was out at 6am (not that I do that often, lol), and although I wore a heavy-ish coat I did wish I had put a jumper underneath instead of a blouse. Still chilly now, but I have a fleece on, house boots and a nice hot cuppa - and NO heating. I'll definitely wear that jumper later when I have to go out for another survey.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.
  • Ours is still off, but according to netweather.tv we'll dip down into highs of single figures during the day next Wednesday so I imagine it'll be put on then - I don't think we'll eek it out another 11 days after that, but you never know.
