Is your heating ON or OFF?

I switched mine on for the first time this morning, but mainly to test out the boiler as it's supposed to be getting a bit colder soon. It was on for about an hour whilst I waited for all the radiators to be fully heated and to test the temperatures, and I got so hot I had to open all the windows! So it's off again now till we get desperate.Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0

Ours was on as and when - drafty old house and no hot water without the heating on!
However, on Friday dear old British Gas came to do a service and told us they couldn't get the 'necessary' part, and therefore he would have to cut through the gas pipe, declare us unsafe, and we would have to get a new boiler.
Being thoroughly into MSE mode with neither of us working full time right now (through choice), we got the name of the part, the name of a local gas safe bloke, and a couple of small plug in heaters.
Now we're on blankets and hot water bottles, with the small heaters to take the chill and damp off (doesn't warm it up much!) until we either get hold of a part, or save up to have the boiler replaced...
Star jumps all round to warm up I reckon!0 -
No heating on round here although I did put the system on yesterday to make sure it was still working. It is, thank goodness, the rad in the sitting-room was hot within about five minutes or so.
It's 13 degrees in here with the window wide open but I've got my cuddly blanky round me and my thermal socks on. I must look like a sight for sore eyes but I don't care: no-one's expected round to visit today0 -

Got 5 out of 7 of my storage heaters on, but set very low. Seem to be ok at the moment, sat in front of my open fire in the room without the heating in.
Going to try and keep them as low as possible and see how it goes.Know the difference between what you WANT and what you NEED. :T0 -
Had the heating on (and off) for the last couple of weeks, but today definitely ON!! All 4 of us got soaked to the skin this morning at lads football, nothing else for it to get this place warm. Hot baths then I might turn it down a bit.0

Off again...having problems with condensation on some windows (strange as only 2, the rest are ok) and despite having those windows open all day, they're still steaming up
Checked my trickle vents as i'm not sure which way they should face so will see if that helps. I'm cold now

IT'S ON!!!!:j:mad::j:mad::j
We lasted a week longer than last year but I finally caved in on Friday afternoon when the house felt cold and damp. Within half an hour the house felt cosy warm and it's definitely taken the chill off.
It's on for an hour in the morning 6.45-7.45 then again from 3.45 til 9pm. Yesterday evening I turned the thermostat down to 17degrees and it feels fine at the moment.Mortgage Free in 3 part 2 challenge - pay off £9000
