Is your heating ON or OFF?

Mine is ON since yesterday
To feel warm enough I turn it onn from 6pm till 10 pm every day. Cant understand how it is possible to warm the house having heating on for 1 hour in the evening.
I tried to hold as much as I could ,but being sick lately 2 times in one month I gave up.0 -
Well, we had our first hard frost of the year last night, down to -4'C. So the heating is now officially ON for the rest of the year. One hour in the morning, from 7.15am to 8.15am, then on again at 4pm till 10.30pm. The individual radiators get switched on and off a bit though...I never heat our bedroom at night, neither does my son and the study never needs heating due to the PCs kicking out plenty of waste heat. So that really only leaves the hall, lounge, living room, bathroom and DD's room and they've all got thermostatic controls so are set at different levels. .
At the weekend or over the holidays I'll probably run it all day. It gets bloomin' cold up here in Scotland and there's other areas I'd rather economise on than the heating! Yes, we wear jerseys and wooly house socks and have thick dressing gowns and jammies. I have quite amazingly good duvets and in an emergency (like the time the Rayburn died in Feburary and the new boiler didn't go in till May) we used our big 4-season sleeping bags as well. We're insullated and draught-proofed to an inch of our lives too. No point in paying for heat then letting it escape! But also, no point in freezing miserably if you can afford to turn the heating on a little more. It's not a contest after all!Val.0 -
Its off today. OH was fitting a radiator yesterday and we had the back door open for almost half the day which meant walking around in a woollen hat and jumpers over jumpers but once it was done, he turned the heating on to test it and it was very warm.
We turned it off when the temperature got to 16 C as it was too hot.
We are going to leave it a bit longer but plan to leave the thermostat on 15 or 16 once we have it set to turn on ,as we are acclimatised to the cooler temperature now.0 -
Still off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:jInfamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!

Our landlord's just had the plumbers round to replace the radiators, now sitting in a lovely warm flat, and so excited because we finally have thermostatic valves on the rads in the lounge and bedroom
. The main thermostat in our flat is really stupidly sited in the hall, which has a double-height ceiling (it's a maisonette), making it really wasteful, especially as the rads in the most-used rooms don't seem to work. But now we can just heat the rooms we need, which makes me feel geekily excited! OH, not being as MSE as I am, just wants to know if he can turn the heating on yet!

Off off off again
MIL has gone back to Spain. Got to say its a bit of a shock once you get used to a warm house -
BUT - we are both sleeping better in a cold room, and its still do able with thermal socks and jumper.
Best Wishes to all who are still persevering
Will give in once we get our first icy morning - still mild here

Put my radiators on for the first time this evening but only because I had company... I would have looked and felt really mean if I'd suggested they wrap a fleecy blanket round their shoulders while they were here! The rads are off again now that I'm on my own again but at least I KNOW that they work properly, as many people on this thread have mentioned, it's better to try before you actually NEED them!
