Our thermostat is set at 14 and the CH has come on for the first time this morning. I must say, it made the morning shower a much nicer experience.
Yesterday we woke to a light frost, but this morning it's raining.

Can anyone recommend a cheap but accurate digital room thermometer? Preferably something that is available in the main supermarkets or DIY stores ie quick and easy to get hold of.

    Thanks

    • Do you have a Tenants' Handbook - there should be some guidlines in that.
    • Your Housing Association SHOULD listen to your complaints.
    • There should be an 'Official Complaints Procedure' so you may need to speak to the Housing Assistant for your area or the Housing Manager for your district to make yourself heard.
    • Housing Associations SHOULD have Residents Associations to represent tenants views.
    • Is your home perhaps in a Regeneration Area? This can sometimes cause problems with getting repairs done IF they have a 'planned schedule' for things like double-glazing, central heating installation, insulation to be done etc. Even so, you cannot be expected to live in a freezing cold, draughty home. There are 'Housing Standards' that are supposed to be adhered to by Housing Associations.
    • Try to find out who your tenants reps are on the Housing Association Board - you need somebody to speak up on your behalf.
    • And finally, approach your local councillors - at least ONE of them should be on the Housing Association Board.
May be worthwhile visiting their Website to find out a list of people who are supposed to help you and your husband.

    Good Luck to you both.
  • thank you so much for all the advice everyone, have took pic of temp in bedroom and will work my way down all the other ideas, also going to talk to my cpn and see if they can help in anyway

your cpn would be a really good place to start. Part of her job is to support you -so good luck :).

Hope your hubby gets well soon.

For those looking for a really cheap room thermometer it might be worth phoning the Community Care Department of your local council. Ours has been issuing one of those cardboard thermometers with coloured strips on it which tell you what your room temperature is and whether your room is too hot, just right or too cold. They were given out free on one of the Well Being Days the local council sponsored so it might be worth checking whether yours is doing anything similar.

  • Well I've just had to switch it on as I'm down to 14.5 in the living room, which is a tad too chilly when you're just sitting down and trying to get some work done! Will probably have it on for 30 minutes and see what tomorrow brings lol
