Is your heating ON or OFF?

I've switched on for the winter today. The temp kept dropping beneath 15 degrees so have set thermostat at 16 degrees and switched on.0

Ours is off and will remain off for most of the winter, probably. We just use hot water bottles and duvets most of the time and make sure we have thick layers on. Our kitchen is 13' at the moment0

Our heating has been on for a while now and we also have a real fire which we've lit when chilly too. Our house doesn't get particularly warm and with 4 kids and me having joint issues I haven't been able to keep the heating offWife to a great husband and mum to 4 fantastic kids 9,8,4,3 they drive me mad but I would do anything and give everything for my family :grinheart

Ours is off, but I wish it wasn't:(
It is cold, dank, windy and just miserable here today. I'm sitting here in thermal socks with a blanket wrapped around me and I'm still feeling cold. However, the kids are all sitting about in t-shirts!
We didn't put the heating on until November 3rd last year and I'm hoping to last until at least mid November this year as I have to get our gas bill down.0 -

ON this morning, last night we managed to keep warm just with the woodstove but last thing at night DH programmed it to go on for this morning - and it was LOVELY to wake up to a warm house!
We did well considering, usually we caved in around 20th October, this time we went all the way to 2nd November without.
The next challenge for us now (only for our family, I mean, not to anyone else in the thread!) is to keep the heating to a manageable level, e.g. not at full blast, only on a couple of hours morning and night and off if the weather is particularly mild. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
we havent really had the heating on..we will put it ona lil in the day but just to take the chill off the air.
i dont put it on at night, if i can avoid it even tho we have lil children, both my boys sleep out of their covers even the baby who is 11 months, they dont seem to feel it!
i sleep witha fan balsting at my face even in the winter...yes i am mad!!..its only just come off the 2nd setting lol.0 -
I am trying to keep the heating off at the moment, and so far I have suceeded apart from a couple of days in October when it was really cold for some reason. But then I had to turn it off again after an hour or so, I was too hot!!!
At the moment it is 19 deg downstairs, but 9 degs outside..brrr!! I haven't got any socks on and only have a short sleeve shirt on with jeans, but I think I am not noticing it because I am full of some bug so that is making me hotter than normal!! Hubby loves it..he hates the heating on and would happily walk around in shorts in the winter, strange man :eek:Mortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

We have our heating on but that is because I am Hypothyroid and the weather really affects me. Like you, Lolly1981, on a night I usually have the fan on too, but I'm needing to turn it off at the moment although I'm sure there will be times during winter where it will be on again. Which again is down to the Hypothyroidism - I can't win!:rotfl:0
