  • Well done frugal non-turners on. We on the saaath coast remain resolute:D Here it's in the 60s and actually really warm, so no test of moral strength as yet.
I have, however, arranged to "get a man in" to check the heating over, incase it does get desperately cold. I will happily live in a freezer, but I have pre-schoolers and I think there comes a point where they need warmth;)

It is balmy, isn't it - forecast is for more of the same for the rest of the week as far as i'm aware. Well done with getting in the freebie wood by the way. As I said yesterday, or the day before, (I get confused - too little sleep and congenital nappy brain) I believe the long range forecast is for a mild winter, so we might be able to hold out til christmas with a little luck. I
Have re-read some of the posts - we're beginning to all sound a tad gung ho I think - Dunkirk spirit and all that. I have visions of us having a sing song round a candle with our camp blankets on at this rate (and if it gets really cold, we might even light the candle:D )

hee hee! yes i even have the back door open! Still its all back to front, if you remember it was really cold still all through march so it took longer to get warmer for spring but its warmer now.

Its amazing the difference between North and South though.
We were in Ireland in early september and had the woodie going every night, we couldnt believe how warm it was when we got home!

No - still managed to hold off. Caved in Thursday and had the living room fire on for a few hours as my parents were round and my Mum was complaining about the cold. But the heating hasn't been on yet!!!

Suggested to OH that we don't put the heating on until November and he thought that was reasonable :) I knew I married the right man;)

still holding on without the heating in Manchester.. doing the whole opening-the-kitchen-door-after-cooking thing which helps in the early evening, wearing socks and a warm jumper, hot water bottle in bed, all that kinda thing. It helps that i've got lining on the curtains and sausage draught excluders in front of the door - just opening bedroom window during the day and while we're asleep, and living room window open a crack during the day. a fair amount of heat comes off the computers as well.

determined to hold out till November (and beyond, if we can)..
