It was cold here this morning - for the first time I saw frost on the ground. My sitting room was a chilly 13.5C but I was fine with my layers on.

Am just back in now and after the sun streaming in it's 16C and I've had to take layers off. I know that's colder than the recommended temperatures (thanks for those Ollie) but it feels fine to me. So mine is staying off for now. But I don't want to be a martyr to the cause - I'm sure it'll go straight on as soon as I feel it's too cold!
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Have given in this evening and put it on for a while just to take the chill out of the house.

Thick jumper and fluffy socks on, and DH and I will be snuggled under our blankie in front of the TV tonight. Hottie is ready for filling at bedtime.
Oh dear, here we go again.
  • still off here but sat under fleece blankets
  • I am putting it on in morning and gas fire but for less than 1 hour and in evening no but going to bed earlier with electric blanket

If it goes below 15 when we're in bed it's on, I don't go to bed until after midnight, thermostat, so not very often yet, 15 minutes before bath time I put it on if it's below 17 for the boys but the rest of the time it is off. Day time only if I go out and DP who prefers to run around half starkers (ok well in shorts only!) is in the house on his own he sneaks it on.

It's first winter in the new house and we actually have a room thermostat instead of just radiator temperature control so hopefully I can prove to DP what he 'prefers' is like a chuffing sauna! We also still need to work out what makes the house colder, what to keep covered etc. I have noticed how much warmth my appliances create when on this being a smaller house downstairs.
One day I might be more organised...........

I find I sleep best if the temp is around 14.5 - 15 degrees in the bedroom. OH thinks this is too cold, and is pleading for the winter duvet! Our thermostat is set at 14 degrees at the moment, but the temperature has dipped here today, and the heating may have to come on soon. I will resort to the gas fire in the lounge as a first step though ;)
