    Central heating still off.

My bedroom is really warm as south facing, blinds were left open all day to warm the room and it is really comfortable (but I have also put hot water bottles in the bed just in case - I love them!).

Downstairs is a bit colder so the family decided to burn a bit of wood in the stove.

I am also counting the days to 1st November now!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

  • We were another household with internal window ice! There was no central heating in our house as a kid, only the gas fire in the front room and a wood stove in the kitchen. I remember getting dressed under the bed covers in the morning because it was so cold :o

Our heating is off............so is the hot water! They will stay that way until Warmfront send someone to repair the new boiler that was fitted 8 months ago. Have waited 3 weeks so far. Can cope without the CH but we are starting to smell without any hot water!!

We have had no heating on all day due to being @ a family celebration in someone else's home.
I did chat to DD who rents her own flat about putting a fleese/blanket on her sofa. She thought it was a good idea and will do so. Theese youngsters who move out of home soon learn about bills as they begin to pay for themselfs.

Have started wearing socks around the house and want to buy thoose fluffy slipper socks when next in town to ware with my lambs wool slippers.

I have put a makeshift cream fleese @ top of stairs window and noticed this morning how cold it felt to the touch. So it must be doing some good.
Will attach it behind the curtains when I have time.

Giving Christmas pressants some thought and think I may buy people things to keep warm this year like slippers, flufffy socks, hot water bottle, flask. electric fire, gloves and scalfs.

Have trained the large dog to woof at the door when he wants to go out as I am trying to keep the doors shut and any heat in. He does the woof well and looks as if to say this old game again! Hurry up!

Reading a book in bed keeps me warm and cosy.

I am just off to fill my hotwater bottle for the first time this year as my feet are starting to feel cold. Will ask if others want one too.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

Heating on for a tiny bit tonight but tiny flat so only takes 10 mins to get boiling hot (either that or the red wine!). Off in bedroom and hall for a bit yet I hope.

I put the electric heater on for about an hour today as I had some hand washing to dry and I don't have a tumble dryer. I don't expect to put a lot of heating on in the foreseeable future, as I find keeping my flask full of hot drink, a fleece jacket on and thick socks on, a great way to keep warm and save money.
