We haven't had our central heating on yet, usually about November. We have a Coal fire and a AGA though which heats the water etc so don't need it!! xxTheres 2 types of horse owner, a person who owns a horse and a horsey person

Today had a "job at risk" notice. Heating off for as long as poss. Aiming for late November and then just on to air the house until December.
Fingers crossed for a warmer winter
Aw, sorry to hear about your job. Hope you're ok. At least you're prepared and not running up big bills. I think I'll do the same as you and aim for mid-November if possible.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

OFF OFF OFF! But woodburner has been lit a couple of evenings!
:jInfamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!

Still no heating of any kind here yet
. The electric fire sits staring at me in the evenings, but it's still getting ignored. Don't think it's even been switched on twice in the three years that we've been in this house.
The 'flame effect' sometimes get used in the evenings if we have visitors - but purely for psychological purposes :rotfl:.
I'm hoping to hang on till 1st November (but only if the weather stays mild) - gave in around 29th Oct last year due to really cold snap).
Obviously, if either/both of my youngest two dgk's were around and it was cold, then I wouldn't hesitate in putting it on.- Still want to repeat - If you have very young, vulnerable(frail elderly/immobile/circulatory probs) or ill people in your home PLEASE make sure your homes are heated to recommended levels (21C Living Rooms/18C Bedrooms) with windows slightly open for air circulation.

Thanks for that Ollie, I was just wondering what the recommended temps were! DS's bedroom just hit 18 this morning (he's 2 1/2 and in the coldest room of the house) so will keep an eye on that!

This website is a good guide, sarah: http://www.deals4homes.co.uk/heating/room_temperatures.htm
Would your son perhaps be ok with a hotwater bottle (in a cover of course!) in his bed/cot for half an hour before he goes to bed? at least if the stopper was screwed in very tightly- I always feel the cover is needed to prevent them feeling the heat when it's first put in the bed AND the cold during the night/morning when it can give you a bit of a .

Hi everyone
My heating is still off but it's still not really cold here in NW London and my flat is also on the first floor insulated by two others so no problems with the heating being off.
Cheers
