Is your heating ON or OFF?

I've not put the central heating on yet and I hope to keep it off til Novenber at the earliest BUT I did give in and light a very small fire in the lounge this morning... I've had a stinking cold all week and today I really enjoyed watching the used tissues burning, along with the germs! Does this count? I'm drying washing indoors without using the TD or radiators, am keeping bedroom window open at night and wear extra layers when necessary but knowing that these pesky germs are burning as I watch is making me feel warm all over!!Debts in March 2007:

Debts in Jan 2020:Loan £2900 Sister £0

I picked up a pair of fleece PJs in Dunnes today for £5, got them on now and am toasty and warm, think I'll be going to get a second pair at some point! I used to always have fleece PJs when I lived at home as my mum doesn't have any central heating (though she's saving up now!) and they make such a difference, I can survive without heating for a few more weeks with these. Hubby is jealous, they didn't have mens sizes and he's a bit tall for womens to fit! They also had 3 pairs of fluffy socks for £1.50Official DFW Nerd Club - Member #398 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T

They are good when you are sitting down, but as soon as you stand up they are rubbish.
You wear them like a hospital gown, so the back is hanging loose. This is fine when sitting/lying down, as you are covered from head to foot with your arms free to move.
When you stand up the back is open and the cold gets in. I did suggest wearing it the other way around, like a coat, but it wasn't big enough and the edges didn't meet at the front.
Also, if you are not tall it trails along the floor when you walk, which is dangerous.
So, they are good when sitting, but only slightly better than an ordinary fleece blanket. When standing and moving they are hopeless.
Teenager daughter loves it, but she will happily sit on the sofa from 4:30 until midnight without moving. The mother, who gets up and does things, thinks it is a waste of time and a dressing gown would have been much better.
I wear mine both ways, lying on the sofa if I am settled in to watch a film or whatever I wear it with the gap at the back. Walking round, at the fron. I have developed a Slanket walk, with the end over my arm like a train :rotfl:0 -
No heating on down here in Cornwall :j
I have invested in thermal black out curtains and made some draught excluders for this winter, so hope they will help me put off putting on the heating that little bit longer.0 -
Just put mine on. I only use oil filled radiators & iv been to the rugby tonight, in the wet & cold & needed a bit of warming up! Wont leave it on for long, just to take the chill off the air!0

It is still 20 degrees according to my Gallileo thermometer. But my feet feel a bit cold. I must find my slippers.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I'm still off! Been out in the winds this afternoon and was blinking chilly, thought that I would need to put heating on for a bit just to thaw out this evening, but a hoodie and slippers seemed to have sorted me out!Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0
