I don't need it on for heat for me though, I'm in a Slanket and am as warm as toast!

I just looked these up, how amazing are these! I am going to put one on my xmas list! How easy are they to move about in?

No heating as yet. Wonderful news though - I am over £200 in credit with my gas!

It is definitely colder here. I can tell by my cat. He constantly miaows at night to go out into the garden - you let him out -and then within a minute you can hear him frantically hurling his body against the back door to get back in!!:)

Our heating is off. We use oil, so reluctant to put it on until we really need to. We do have an open fire in the living room and electric underfloor heating in the bathroom, so will be able to use those first.

Stocked up on logs yesterday. filled the back of our mondeo estate (with the back seats down also) with split logs for thirty pounds, which seemed like a bargain.

I know a mother and teenage daughter who have one each. The daughter loves hers but the mother thinks hers was the biggest waste of money ever.

They are good when you are sitting down, but as soon as you stand up they are rubbish.

You wear them like a hospital gown, so the back is hanging loose. This is fine when sitting/lying down, as you are covered from head to foot with your arms free to move.

When you stand up the back is open and the cold gets in. I did suggest wearing it the other way around, like a coat, but it wasn't big enough and the edges didn't meet at the front.

Also, if you are not tall it trails along the floor when you walk, which is dangerous.

So, they are good when sitting, but only slightly better than an ordinary fleece blanket. When standing and moving they are hopeless.

Teenager daughter loves it, but she will happily sit on the sofa from 4:30 until midnight without moving. The mother, who gets up and does things, thinks it is a waste of time and a dressing gown would have been much better.
  • OFF. I NEVER have it on between March 31st and October 1st.

It's still warm enough in my house for it not to be on yet.:j

Our is still off, ds2 is currently running round naked so it cant be that cold. Was a bit chilly last night so may have to surrender and put rads on in ds2's room but for me its still ok. Only problem we're having is drying clothes now. I'm pleased tho last year our heating was on in sept so i've lasted a month longer this year.

Still OFF , I'm using our camping gas heater in the living room for an hour to take the chill off , then move it to our bedroom for half an hour while we are in bed and it does the trick .
Gas refills are £5 for 4 in asda and they last 8 hours :D

It's off. We get a lot of heat through from the neighbours, and the sun (when it's out!) in the morning, so that's free heat for me!

Could we not make a less cumbersome Flanket by stitching two cheap (£2) fleeces together, leaving a space for head and arms. I would imagine it is the sleeves and length that make it a bit dodgy for walking around in. The cheap fleeces are not that long or wide. Just a thought :)

I may nip into Primark and see what they have in there.
