Is your heating ON or OFF?

Still not put any heating on but decided enough is enough and tomorrow morning will light the gas fire in my sitting room.
I moved my room thermometer to the kitchen a while ago but will move it back to the sitting room tonight, ready to check how things go.5 -
The first physical indicator that I am finding heating incompatible: I visited my parents last night and they have their heating on from 4.30pm until they go to bed (early hours). The 3 of us all fell asleep in the living room from early evening onwards.... excusable for the elderly but definitely not normal for someone of my age.
There is such a thing as being too cosy!!No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.7 -

I suppose I was a little put out as I could have read half a book in that time had I been awake. But seriously, its a first world problem and I have nothing to complain aboutWednesday2000 said:

I never used to feel the cold, and often did not have the heating on until December but the last couple of years of illness *plus of course aging) seem to have sapped my resilience and I have now put the heating on for mornings and evenings. My house does seem to warm up quite quickly and retain the heat (thanks to good curtains and insulation) but I still find I have to wear extra clothing as well due to circulation problems. I try to move around regularly rather than just sit all day (cue dreaming marching round the kitchen when waiting for the kettle to boil) but I find the damp, grey days we have had sap my motivation to do that. Today is a bright but chilly day and I have much more energy. Like others have said, despite a good credit balance in my utilities account and the forthcoming WFP, it seems ingrained in me to be frugal.5

I’ve been heating the house to 17.5C - from whenever I put the heating on until about 9pm. With a couple of layers I find this a comfortable temperature for me (granted if heating were free I’d probably go for 21!)4

The temperature i feel comfortable is 16 so not used any yet..but getting close4

Looking at the long range forecast, I'm hoping to go another 2 weeks living out of the kitchen if possible. I'm running dehumidifiers overnight in the rest of the house on E7 cheap rate and quick blast with fan or convection heater in the kitchen before it switches to daytime rate and warms up in the sun.2

I could turn my heating on from now as Im pretty sure I have enough in my electric account to cover about 5 mths worth of heating....but Im not quite cold enough yet!
Although I did have the drama and suspense the other day of turning on the storage heater in the bathroom!
Im pretty sure it was old when I bought the house (27 yrs ago) and I cant afford to fix it so every year is that tense moment when I wait to see if it still works.....and it does, hurrah!
Fully clothed me can cope with the cold but naked me, not so much (also the towels were damp).

And yet bathrooms are probably the last room in the house I'd ever choose not to heat. It's been over a year since I last used warm water to have a shower and even then I only used tepid water because I had the flu. I don't mind feeling cold for a short period but when the air's cold for days on end I soon start to wish summer would return.catz4m8z said:I could turn my heating on from now as Im pretty sure I have enough in my electric account to cover about 5 mths worth of heating....but Im not quite cold enough yet!

I must admit I've noticed a notable drop in the temperature of the water from the cold tap over the last week or so, it was still refreshing after cycling 20 or so miles to get home but I was glad I had a brew waiting for me when I got out the shower yesterday. The North Sea also seems to've lost a few degrees of late, which is only to be expected given we're in November.5
