is that a conscious choice to wash with unheated water @Bridlington1? You are much tougher than me for sure.
I had to do it once several years ago when the combi went on the blink and it was not an experience I would choose to repeat.Lancashire

Yes, I am one of those lunatics that has cold showers by choice. I began having cold showers when I was a child as I just got sick of the water temperature changing suddenly if anyone else in the house decided to use one of the other taps whilst I was having a shower so just thought "sod it, I'll have a cold shower instead".SuzeQStan said:is that a conscious choice to wash with unheated water @Bridlington1? These days I've been having cold showers for so long that I'm just used to it to the point that washing in warm water just feels weird. Also especially on a hot summer's day, if I've been cycling a cold shower is nice just to cool off a bit.
Same goes for swimming, I'm not a lover of heated swimming pools as the water just feels too warm, also they can get quite crowded which can be a pain. I'd rather just swim in the sea in February provided it's reasonably calm (and often do) than go in a swimming pool.
Note I wouldn't recommend it for everyone though, I've very much got youth on my side (am in my early 20s) and haven't any health conditions that I'm aware of, if I were significantly older (shan't specify an age) I would advise against it.6 -
I am with you in one respect - there is nothing better for me than dousing my head from the outdoor tap following exercise or working in the garden in summer. And you are right - the water feels surprisingly lukewarm from the tap in summer - refreshing.I too am not a fan of heated pools - especially
municipal ones.At the moment summer seems a ways away and I apologise ive hijacked this thread off its heating on/off purpose..
Back to that - cosy curtains are going back up this evening as the ceilings here are getting final painting touches today - am quite proud it’s only taken us 3 weekends to do the whole house including woodwork. But now the walls themselves are looking a bit drab……will definitely be leaving those for another time….It’s a beautiful day out there - startling bright sunshine interspersed light rain showers. Canal walk in my wellies in a mo to get some vit D.
Heating came on this morning for an hour as we got down to 6 degrees overnight - but now benefitting from solar gain as the sun is streaming in the windows. And next week is supposed to be mild so hopefully won’t be using the GCH again for at least a few more daysLancashire

Dont think I could wash with cold water, Im not that hardy! Which is ironic because my boiler broke about 3 years ago and I havent had hot water since!
I just boil a kettle when I need it and my 'shower' consists of a bucket and jug in the bath!
It never really bothered me though and my water bill is about as low as it can be so there is an upside. 8
