That will be a shock to the system! It has been so mild. I would like to see what it looks like with snow at the beaches around here. I don’t think I have ever seen that before.Rosa_Damascena said:The forecasts I have seen are suggesting a massive 5-day snow dump from 15th Nov.5 -
Looks like we will be having the heating on for an hour tomorrow morning as it’s getting down to 5 degrees overnight.

Me neither - principally because I prefer to stay in when it snows. I'll walk if necessary but actively avoid driving, its just not worth the risk.Wednesday2000 said:

Keeping my eyes and fingers crossed for you that there isn't a major storm (however New England is getting the cold blast right now). We are supposed to get a lot of rain on Thursday and Friday and a cool down in the temperature - it is 26C right now here. Thinking of all of you in the cold. Sending you warm thoughts.5

On 31 October I said I'd light the gas fire in my sitting room the next morning.
This would mark my heating going on for the 2025-26 winter.
It seemed warmer on 1 November and I am still sitting with a hot water bottle and an additional clothing layer rather than lighting the fire.
Maybe if I say I'll light the fire tomorrow because it's getting colder, the weather will instantly improve. At least for now I have not put the heating on this winter.7 -
I've been monitoring a few forecasts today and Friday seems to be the turning point. I've put a reminder in my phone to switch my living room storage heater on at the wall tomorrow so it heats up from 00:30 Friday morning. I will then relocate from the kitchen to the living room on Friday. I'll still be leaving the rest of them off for now until it gets considerably colder and will be running a dehumidifier overnight in the hall to keep away any damp and run the one in the kitchen for the last hour or so of cheap rate when I get up.5
