Is your heating ON or OFF?

The heating is on and will stay on for about three hours as I need to do some laundry and then dry it afterwards on the radiators.
I searched my chest of drawers and realised I have two pairs of thermal leggings so I'm wearing them today along with a roll neck jumper.6 -
I'm disabled and have regular carers visit. Am shocked at stories they tell me of some elderly patients they care for who have no heating on in their house at all for fear of the cost. That means their laundry can go for weeks unwashed because there is absolutely no means of drying it indoors.7

^ That is disgraceful in a country as rich as ours.
We were upstairs watching a film last night and we used the portable halogen heater with the door closed and it worked quite well to heat up the room.2025 GOALS

Thermostat was at 15 when I got up - heating put on at 19 then I turned it down to 18.
I am wearing a thermal vest and long johns plus layers.
Heating stays on until I go to bed.

Last day of cold tomorrow, then going back to average seasonal temperatures.7

Halleluiah, praise be! I returned home last night after a week away and although the house has been heated in my absence, the cold weather still came as a bit of a shock.Swipe said:Last day of cold tomorrow, then going back to average seasonal temperatures. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Anybody who still doesnt have their heating on must be very hardy stock!
My house is about 11C in the morning at the moment and Im not sitting around in that!
No central heating though so I have a little electric heater that has been on most of the day in the one room I camp out in during the day.
Then a lovely electric blanket to snuggle under in the evening. That (plus lots of layers) seems to be enough at present.5 -

These cold spells make you realise what a difference good insulation makes. When we moved into our new built detached house many years ago we let the walls dry out over winter and then had cavity wall insulation installed and doubled the roof insulation. Having compared notes on bills with neighbours who didn't do these things our h energy bills were much lower and over the years must have saved a lot of money.8
