It is 18.2 here, but it does feel very autumnal today. I just got in as it started to rain. It is very dark in my living room. I have put the lights on and lit a scented candle.
If it feels colder tonight I will put it on for an hour or two.2025 GOALS

Still OFF.
Last year went on on 6 November - but last year it was a litte warmer at this time.6 -
On timer for one hour in morning and evening.
Increased boiler temp to 2 below maximum, I think that'll do for now but am thinking of increasing to 90mins twice a day.

catz4m8z said:Not yet. So far its only been down to about 16C in my house and Im ok with that, havent even dug my Oodie out yet. Only other concessions are the storage heater in the bathroom had to go on (or else the towels will just be permanently damp) and Im using my dehumidifier for drying the laundry.
I find that once I start switching it on then I lose my head and want it on all the time! Whereas Im not missing it at the moment.
We have a communal laundry so drying clothes isn't a problem6 -

Mine was at 16 but then I started to get chilblains when sitting working at my desk and I decided I'm not that strapped for cash that it's impacting on my health. So there will be extra heat in my office from here on in.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.7 -

Is that for the entire population, babies, old people, those who are super fit, those with serious health conditions?2 -
The NHS suggests that areas of your home that you use the most, such as your living room and bedroom should be at least 18°C. If you have a health issue, this is very crucial.
The UK government used to recommend a temperature of 21 degrees for living rooms and 18 degrees for bedrooms, but now they just recommend 18 degrees for the whole home.Cold homes are not good for your health. Problems and diseases linked to the cold range from blood pressure increases and common colds, to heart attacks and pneumonia.
Besides poor health, cold-related illness causes absence from work, social isolation, and sleep deprivation. It may lead to mental or stress related illness, with negative knock on effects for family and friends.

I imagine the risks are lower for younger adults in good health but there's an interesting link between temperature and health conditions. Things like heart attacks are more likely a few days after an cold snap, and if someone is living in a colder house their brain function typically decreases so they are less able to discern and react to pressures on their health.
I wish I could quote details: I had to have an awareness in a previous job but only the gist of it remains.
