Is your heating ON or OFF?

I am going to stave off until Wednesday - it is not unreasonable to have the heating on in November. My home is spacious so although I know its more efficient to heat just me I don't want to run the risk of damp / damage to the property if it can be avoided. It felt a bit nippy in the kitchen at 15degC earlier but it eventually stopped raining and the sun made an appearance which made it ideal walking weather. I wrapped up (although I needn't have) so was quite cosy.
Bed time is under 2 x 15 tog duvets, and I use a thermal throw underneath. Even so it has taken me a little while to nod off when I got to bed in the early hours of the morning, simply because it has felt cold.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

If you're an active person (obviously I don't know you) you may not be needing heating as your activity is keeping you warm. I don't need the heating if I'm busy about the house but when I'm sitting down the same temperature is too cold. It doesn't take into account the whole 'heat the person not the space' aspect either. Someone snuggled under a heated blanket may not need the heating on.
That's the difficulty with blanket advice (sorry about the pun).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Although ironically I spend most of the night sleeping under a single sheet....which proves there is some benefit to hot flashes at a certain age!!LOL4 -

We have started putting on the heating for a couple of hours a day now just to warm the house up - windows and doors shut at all times now2

Its feeling cold at 12 degrees indoors tonight, the heating has been on for a few hours the last couple of days. I do love my heated throw though, its brilliant. It still works after being machine washed a number of times, I didnt think it would survive one wash. Well worth the money .Current debt approximately 5000
Goal- Zero debt by mid 2025
Savings in 2026- an emergency fund of 50007 -

The difference between being able to afford to stay warm and not translates into pure misery. We know there are plenty of people (particularly older) on their uppers who spend their days under a duvet in an effort to stay warm. Charles Dickens would be less than impressed in the social progress made in 150 years. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

I felt chilly when I got home yesterday as I had been rained on quite a lot over the past few days! The heating went on for at least 3 hours last night which is the longest I have used it in quite a few months.6

This morning it has been lovely: finally stopped raining and the sun is out which makes my kitchen a beautifully warm space to work from home in. Its wonderful to be able to say that in November! No man is worth crawling on this earth.
