OH bought me a heated throw a couple of months back and it's enabled us to cut down a lot on heating, especially during the day (I WFH)
We're also layering up

Mine is set to come on at 5 pm for an hour if it drops below 18. It’s been on each day for that hour, when I get up in the morning it’s usually 14 in the living room which is the warmest place. I have occasionally put the temp to 16 if I’m really cold even with throws and layers. I do have poor circulation, keeping hands nose and toes warm is difficult.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.4

Mine came on the other evening when it was pouring with rain, it was lovely. I haven't turned it on since and am making do but am surprised how mild it has been for January. Wish this blooming rain would stop though. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.4 -
Ours is still on but I've adjusted the timer so it's on for less time than before. I suspect I'll be changing it back again this weekend though as next week's long range forecast here (Yorkshire) is for daytime highs of just above freezing and nighttime lows in the realms of -1/2/3.Be kind to others and to yourself too.3

I have a problem with condensation on my windows since I have switched the heating on but I read (I think it was Mrs Hinch) that you should put small bowls of salt near the windowsill as the salt absorbs the moisture. It actually does work as my windows have been sopping wet in the mornings and now not as much at all. I was having to wipe them down every day before I did this.
I was telling the guy in the shop near me about this as he said he has the same problem in his flat and I was buying bags of salt from him and he asked me why I needed so much salt, lol!7 -

Looks as though my current (25 day) respite from needing any space heating is drawing to a close. My south-facing living room in a well insulated, 3 bed semi in Berkshire hasn't dipped much below 14C since the end of the December '22 cold snap; so layering and hot water bottles more than suffice for me to stay comfortably warm.
Next week's forecast is back to night frosts and low, single figure day temps. If there are some sunny days, that sometimes provides sufficient solar gain to carry through to the next day without recourse to supplementary heating. However, cloudy conditions and near freezing outside temps would need an hour or two's burst of the gas central heating each day to stay comfortable.I'm fortunate that my frugality is a choice and not a financial necessity. I'm just so glad I accepted the Green Deal grant back in 2015 for solid wall external insulation and finally attended to proper loft insulation at the same time.

After several mild overcast and very wet days it's been mild and sunny today reaching 14.4 indoors. Next week is looking colder with low single figures forecast for the days and low minus numbers overnight - hope I haven't got too used to the mild conditions4

The heating was on for a couple of hours last night as I was watching TV on the sofa. I started feeling really cold when I switched it off so I got into bed to finish watching the film I started. I had to go downstairs and get a fresh hot water bottle a few times too.
The heating went on about a half hour ago as it was only 12.1 in my living room.2025 GOALS

I keep my central heating on at 15/16 on the thermostat in the living room all day, then I turn it down to 12 before I go to bed. I only heat the living room, hall, and bathroom. I don't like heating in my bedroom as I can't sleep if I'm too warm. I'm due a cold weather payment for this week and it will certainly help with the cost of my heating.
I find keeping my heating constant, at a slightly lower temperature better for my breathing and mobility than turning it on high for a short while a few times a day. I try to build a buffer during the warmer months so I can afford the winter bills.3
