Still on - but we've turned down the TRVs in the living room now the cold snap appears to have gone.
Always confused when people turn TRVs up or down to compensate for changes in temperature. I thought the whole point of TRVs was that they automatically compensated for changes in temperature.

The reason we adjust them is that by preventing the water in the central heating system from heating up the radiators you are not using (or want to be warm rather than hot), your boiler should work more efficiently and the house will warm up sooner. With fewer radiators being used, the boiler should switch off sooner which uses up less energy and saves you money.  So, ours in the bedrooms are on a low setting to keep the rooms aired rather than hot, and the living room ones are set higher as this is where we need the heat.  If the weather is milder then we prefer a constant heat at a lower setting; when the weather is freezing we want a constant heat at a higher setting.  Each to their own.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.

So far apart from 2 days in December the storage heaters have remained off. All day today it has been dark, wet and mild after a couple of really nice sunny days that warmed it up well indoors, back down to 11.5 now - I reckon a good sunny day can be worth a 3 or 4 degree boost to indoor temps
  • No CH today. 15 degrees in living room. Not feel well, I've only wanted to sit and do nothing after getting up very late. My heated throw has provided my localised heat whilst I sit and let the TV pass in front of me as I drifted in and out of sleep.
