Had to buy an electric heater (trying to be frugal with it) as our boiler is awaiting parts from the manufacturer that are held up in the post due to strikes. Glad I bought one though as it's been getting colder day by day - it's not reached 1 degree out side today, I know it's expensive to run but we need something at the moment I've been to the post office today and topped the electric meter key with last month's £66 home energy voucher so at least I've got a bit of a boost to my electric balance.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. It,s when all that snow in the garden melts and disappears that you know the temperature is rising At this time of the year with half our garden in permanent shade out of low sun level, artic scenery is likely to remain around for a while yet.
at least it will, provide a good storage space for surplus items if the fridge gets over--full in the run up to Christmas. The waterproof picnic carrier should store nicely out there !
Warning to anybody doing this with foxes in the area. A neighbour stored her Christmas bird in this way.in a non robust picnic carrier outside her kitchen door overnight a few years ago . A fox got to it in the night, ripped it to shreds and there wasn,t much left of either the carrier or the bird by the time she went to bring it in !6 -
Minus 8 this morning here in northwest England 🥶had to put heating on as I was minding a toddler this morning.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.4

Set the storage heater in the bedroom to "frost guard" last night but it didn't need to come on as the temp only dropped to 5.6 - will probably change the setting later today - just the one properly on in the lounge/kitchen kept it above 12 in there and the bright sun has helped to get it up to 13.8 and still rising.
It's cold, dry and sunny, perfect walking weather, enjoying it so much nearly forgot the supermarket delivery but a brisk walk home to find they are running 40 mins late so as Margo might say Christmas is saved4 -

It has been below freezing for the third day in a row although quite dry and not too breezy so has actually been quite pleasant to walk in when properly wrapped up. I am getting full use of my Regatta winter coat, it's the best £1.50 I've ever spent in a chazzer. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

A warning for anybody who uses a hot water bottle.
Did you know that the safe life of a hot water bottle is only deemed to be three years, after which the rubber can slowly start to perish when exposed to constant hot water temperatures?.
We spotted a lot of suspicious looking grotty dark granules emerging from ours this morning when emptying it so my OH did a little research. We discovered the date of manufacture of your hot water bottle should be marked on a little "flower like" emblem on the neck of your bottle if it was made by a reliable manufacturer? We checked ours and found it was made in 2003 !! i.e. 20 years ago Really didn't realise we'd had it that long but it is now certainly on the urgent replacement list before an unfortunate accident happens as a result of the rubber completely failing.
