I charged everything up again so that is a good reminder, thanks all. I cannot stand the idea of a blackout, but it is good to prepare.
The heating was on earlier, but it has been off since about midday. I have been watching xmas films (even though some of them are dire!) and keeping warm with a throw and a hot water bottle. I am about to feed my pets and then air the house out and then switch it back on for an hour or so.4 -

In my neck of the woods (Berkshire) there looks to be some relief in sight with a frost-free day and night of +9C this Sunday and +13C daytime come Monday. To be followed by closer to average temperatures in the runup to Christmas day itself. Phew!

6c in the bedroom this morning, put the fan heater on to get dressed, got back into bed to let it warm up a bit first and promptly fell asleep - woke up about an hour later and it was a toasty 15. Another cold day today and the next 2 nights are forecast to be -6 and -7 Have just switched one night storage heater on in the lounge which should make it a bit warmer after midnight tonight and will probably leave it on for tomorrow night as well.2

The cost of energy has made me appreciate things a little bit more. Even over the last week or so I’ve gradually got used to 20, then 19 and now it’s at 17 and I’m quite comfortable. I’ll be glad when it goes into plus figures this weekend though. We are lucky the sun is on the living room and kitchen area so if it’s sunny it really does get warm during the day. Certainly helps at night

Had mine on from 7am to 20:30 every day for a week now, no smart meter but have been taking a daily meter reading and working out the cost, using approx 54kwh a day and its costing at worse £5.20. Looking forward to some milder weather, tried a day with no heating but when it got to 12c indoors I cracked, I really feel for those that cant afford to turn it on.6
