Kitchen/Lounge was 12c at 10 this morning, it was windy, very wet and dark outside till 1 when it cleared up and the sun came out - now 13.2 still clear but sun drops too low to reach the windows by 3 so only cooking is likely to raise the temperature any further.

  • I sing it every evening when I put the heating on  :D

I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.

...and I bet you do 'air guitar' to Bohemian Rhapsody as well.

No heating today, sunny and the patio doors face south so although not 'toasty', certainly comfortable.

  • Some days on for part of day others no heat in the house. Looking ahead, no sunshine and day time highs of 7 or 8 degrees. Not looking good for no heating.

  • Not been tempted to stick the heating back on yet as it's still mild, but credit where it's due, the weather today has been 10/10 for wet and miserable.

Heat on a tad here. So tired when I got home this morn, 0130, I didn't have the energy to put the kettle on for a hot water bottle!

After tomorrow the forecast for the next 2 weeks is highs between 6 and 8 and lows between 4 and 2 (possibly a couple of degrees lower for the rural area). It's an ok 14.3 at the moment despite there having been so much rain over the last few days and apart from yesterday not much sun.
My hot water bottle arrived in the week and never having really thought about it just assumed there was mainly one size - wrong - it appears about 2l is the size that would have been what I expected and the less than 1l ordered is tiny, it's about hand sized, haven't used it yet but suspect another proper sized one will have to be ordered as well.
  • I am having mine on for an hour each morning as it is much easier to dry the laundry by putting it on the hot radiators. Even though I keep reading you shouldn't do that as it releases more moisture into the air, blah, blah, blah.

I did remember to put on the spin and drain setting after the wash today and that does seem to make a big difference to how wet the washing feels afterwards.

I think manny of us take advantage of hot radiators to get our laundry dry.  The advice not to do this seems to come mainly from those alas who may have a lot of technical information about the science of heating but little practical experience of constantly having to dry mountains of wet domestic laundry in winter! It,s probably more healthy than having damp laundry hanging around rooms for longer periods.

if I,ve got small amounts of urgent laundry to do I hand wash it and then put it on the fast spin option on the washing machine.   It only takes a few minutes but saves a little electricity not going through a whole machine water heating and washing cycle.
