Is your heating ON or OFF?

I’m a careful frugal person, look after the pennies and all that. I love all the little tricks and hacks to make things easier/better/cheaper.But sometimes it’s a false economy. Yes putting your heating on will increase your bills, but not by a great percentage. In my house the biggest lump of my g+e bill is the standing charge because I’m a very low user.So you can make little savings by using residual heat to finish cooking things off etc etc but you’ll save more by turning your heating down one degree when it’s on.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.8

Still no heating here, I did give in and turn on my electric blanket for a little while sitting on the sofa yesterday.
Unsure if it'll be the drop in temperature or the need to turn heating on to deal with my windows running (often open them to ventilate, ALWAYS sleep with bedroom window opened overnight even if just a crack) ... time will tell!Aim:12mth Emergency Fund -> £14264/£17076 (83%) Aim 2: Mortgage Overpayment -> Paused until other aim fulfilled.5 -
No heating here yet but most rooms are still 17c5

Fifteen and a half here, but I'm going to work soon so it will stay off till DH needs it later.
We had a hot meal for lunch though. That and hot drinks seem to heat me up beautifully.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

I've given in and set my thermostat to 15 degrees during the day for now. It's kicked in a couple of times during today, but not for too long. I'm not a big energy user but as I'm retired I'm indoors quite a lot of the time and find it better to keep it at a constant temp than letting it get really cold and then switching the heating on.5

The fingerless gloves have been found... and are a welcome addition to my hands!
No heating @ home still but I did get into bed at 8pm last night as it was the warmest place to be.Aim:12mth Emergency Fund -> £14264/£17076 (83%) Aim 2: Mortgage Overpayment -> Paused until other aim fulfilled.4 -
Only had on twice so far and only for half an hour 2nd time and 1 hour first. Just to get temp to 17 degrees. Both times was to take the damp out and I was frozen.
its a beautiful morning, washing is out on line, and temp in living room is 16.5 ! Had the windows open early upstairs to air through, now downstairs open till I go out in a while.
Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.3 -
Ditto wort! My heating's been on twice for the damp, and only briefly.
It's a beautiful morning here, my washing is on the line, and the sun is streaming into my lounge so it's nice and toasty. Upstairs and downstairs windows are open for a blow through, and I'll close em when I go out shortly

Our livingroom is still at 18.5 degrees without heating. I don't feel it cold at all.
We did have to put it on when my mother in law came round though, so she was nice and warm.3 -
As You get older and can,t move around so much you realise how much more sensitive you become to temperature and how important itis to heat the person and not the room. Extra layers and items like a warm scarf, thick socks and fingerless gloves make a big difference in your comfort level. Heat the person and not the room goes a long way to helping keep heating bills more manageable.
how I wish now I hadn t given my old skiing anorak to the charity shop. It would have come in very handy now !
