Is your heating ON or OFF?

On, was 5 degrees yesterday with torrential rain and 57mph winds (from midday until midnight so not a passing storm)
Due to hit 1 degree tomorrow morning between 2am and 9 am
Off to bed with hot water bottle and a book as it is too expensive to stay up and heat the house despite long wooly socks, thermal trousers, long sleeved top, thick cardigan and fur lined fleece and heated throw
Have to laugh at comments that we "all" live in a temperate climate in the UK
Spending a fortune to heat house to 17 degrees which is below my comfort level due to arthritis and nerve damage in my shoulders
And yes if I had a woodburner my "heating" would also be off5 -
I’m managing without heating on. In the evenings I curl up on the sofa with a lap quilt and a very warm dog!Making magic with fabricLight travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.5

Yesterday was ok in the morning but it turned quite wet and windy after lunch with thunderstorms and it was really dark indoors by 15:00, mixed bag today without much sun but enough to get the temp just over 16 in the afternoon from just below it in the morning - still hanging on in short sleeves but need more on outside now2

Got the kitchen storage heater on 3/4 and currently 20C in here. I put the bedroom one on the lowest setting for the first time this year and woke up to a toasty 14.7C. Everywhere else is staying off for now as the rest of the house is still around 12C.

My heating went on last night for a coupla hours. It was as much an anti-damp thing as a temp thing. We’ve had a lotta rain and foggy nonsense for a few days here, and it was a bit chilly outdoors from about 6pm last night so on it went.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4

Definitely going to look into some gloves @YoungBlueEyes and @Auntycaz - I may even have an old pair stashed away... a job for the weekend to find them I think!
Temperature is definitely on the turn here (Worcestershire).. windscreen was slightly frozen on the car this morning
Housework tonight... that'll keep me warm!Aim:12mth Emergency Fund -> £14264/£17076 (83%) Aim 2: Mortgage Overpayment -> Paused until other aim fulfilled.3 -
Starting to definitely feel the drop in temperature now but still resisting the heating at the moment. I did put on the electric blanket last night. I have it plugged into a smart plug and set it so that it goes off an hour after I get into bed and goes on half an hour before my alarm in the morning for about 45 minutes. I picked up a ridiculously cheap, brand new premium quality mattress topper from FB Marketplace and with the electric blanket my bed is super toasty!! Layering up in the evenings and making the most of free heating at work!!6

It is 14.9 in my house and it feels a bit brisk! I am dyeing my hair so I only have on an old vest top on with my leggings which probably doesn't help.
My husband said he felt cold last night so I said to put on a jumper under his hoodie instead of a T-shirt!
I did put a blanket on top of the mattress when we got into bed and that really made a significant difference. I was very nice and warm last night.3 -
Still off, but it's become chilly. LO agreed to put on fleecy onsie. She's been running around in sleeveless dresses up until a few days ago. Her change of heart was after a nice freezing evening out in the woods with the scouts. We all run warm so rarely have the heating on during the night.
I'm hoping to get to mid-November with the dehumidifier and thick blankets.5 -
Heating is still off but have given myself permission to light the gas fire tomorrow, 5 November, the anniversary of putting heating on last year (when it was just a little colder).
It had been turned off finally on 13 April 2022, when it was a fraction warmer than currently.5
