Hope you keep a torch in the bathroom in case of unexpected power cuts during the winter 5 pm is pitch dark time now until next March and trying to navigate your way around in the dark wet and naked could be a bit of an accident risk! Not how you would wish the paramedics to come and rescue you, although I've no doubt they've seen worse!

Yesterday was torrential rain and wind, spent the afternoon with friends who had heating on, and was dreading getting home to an ice bucket house! Surprised that going in and changing into pjs and extra layers ,eating dinner and closing curtains , then sitting under throws with candles I was warm enough. Luckily I had put the winter duvet on the bed that morning.
Today is sunny so washing is out. But even with the sun in east facing living room it is only 15 degrees.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5 -
Heating still off at home ... I'm having insane (wishful) thoughts of seeing if I can make it until December.. but that may be a stretch too far as I've had the hot water bottle in bed the past couple of nights.
Not heating on/off related as such as the heating is on at work but it's a big office (a wall of windows) and I'm the only one in it but my hands have been frozen the past couple of days - I work using computers all day .. thinking I may have to get some gloves to wear?!Aim:12mth Emergency Fund -> £14264/£17076 (83%) Aim 2: Mortgage Overpayment -> Paused until other aim fulfilled.4 -
Some fingerless gloves would prolly help, or maybe even some wrist warmers..?I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5

Its absolutely chucking it downoutside and blowing a gale so I set my living room thermostat to 15 degrees. My heating came on for about 30 mins and its now gone off, I just have the radiator on in the living room hall and bathroom as I don't like the bedroom too warm. I prefer to keep the heating on a constant low temperature than constantly turning it on and off manually. I have thyroid problems so if I find it hard to regulate my temperature if its too hot or too cold, After I get dressed in the morning I put my dressing gown on over my clothes. It's surprising how much difference it makes..
@Kerreh have you thought about getting some of the fingerless gloves from turtle doves on ebay. I got some for my daughter as she works from home and uses the computer. They're quite thin so you can still use the computer as .they dont restrict movement but they keep your hands warm. They're seconds and you can't choose the colour but I couldn't find anything wrong with them.5 -
15.6 in my living room today and it has been pouring with rain since about 9 last night. I don't feel cold today, though.
I felt much warmer after my bath last night. I put on my thermal long sleeved top, thermal leggings, oversized T-shirt and warm socks and they seem to be the key to be being warm indoors. I also have a light scarf that I just drape around my neck. I can't stand scarves being tight across my neck so I never tie them. I did use my fleecy blanket on the sofa last night, they can be surprisingly warm considering how thin and light they feel. I didn't need a hot water bottle in bed after all.
I am really dreading washing my hair when it gets cold. My hair is just past my shoulders and I hate the feeling of how cold it makes me feel having wet hair on the back of my neck. I have a hairdryer that I very rarely use but it might have to be used when it gets chilly.4 -
Don't know if this is the right place to post but for anyone with a prepayment meter the COL vouchers only last 90 days and if they're not used you lose them. They've been talking about it on BBC tv this morning. They're advising people who haven't yet received them to contact their energy providers. I don't have a prepayment meter myself but I know they're quite common in a lot of rental properties.Hope it helps someone.5

I do take my mobile in bathroom and an outside light helps..never need light on in bathroom...I'm on first floor.
Bath about half full I suppose.
We have a communal laundry with a very small service charge so saving there.4 -
I am away from home and in a comfortable temperature without heating so am bound to feel the chill when I'm back at home this weekend.I had a little wander round the city yesterday and treated myself to some non-essentials, make-up and a long HWB in a fluffy cover which was cheaper in Primarni than it is in Dunelm. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.5
