    South Wales here.
    No heating on here yet.
Not sure of the temperature in my living room at the minute - need to try and find a room thermometer - but it's showing as 13 degrees outside today with a low of 8 - and we have had strong winds and rain the last few days.
No idea what was going on with the weather yesterday, but it was a mix of wind / rain and hail all day.

Last night my daughter did come downstairs and ask for a fleece blanket on her bed as she was cold but I think halloween-ing in the rain may have taken its toll on her and husband has woken up with a cold this morning so is currently cuddled up under a blanket on the sofa under a fleece too. Im sat in lounge trousers and a strappy top (joy of being possibly peri-menopausal at 38)

I am going to have a day of winter proofing some rooms, getting the kids beds made up with extra blankets etc and finding out pyjamas/knitted socks etc as I suspect this wind and weather may be sticking around for a while longer yet.
    Time to find me again

Still off here although it has been throughly tested. Graduated to winter nightie and don't think winter socks are far behind. Still don't need sherpa blanket on bed.

My first winter in the flat I'm definitely going to be doing some experimenting to see what works, and be less focused on what worked in my previous home- I've definitely made some mistakes in that area already!

Bedroom is at least 3 degrees colder than thermostat location, annoyingly it is also furthest from boiler so radiator takes the longest to heat up.

I may try using my electric heater for short bursts in there and check the smart meter for usage cost, before the central heating gets used for the winter.
Or experiment with turning all the other radiators off and leaving just that and the control one on.

Our heating is on for 40 mins in the morning to warm up the bathroom and the radiator is turned off after that, no heating needed in the bedrooms (yet).  We have another 40 min blast at lunchtime and for an hour early evenings (lounge only).  Unfortunately our lounge is the coldest room in the house and this is where we spend most of our time!  Today's top temperatures here are 11c and look set to stay around there so I'm afraid the heating is now in regular use.  Still, we've managed to make it until November.   :)
Be kind to others and to yourself too.

Detached rural bungalow. Just have the kitchen storage heater on 60% input and is currently 17C due to no sun today. The bedroom is down to 12.7C today so the storage heater may have to go on in there on the lowest setting pretty soon.

To my surprise the Wife asked me to put the heating on this morning. I wasn't particularly cold but I did want to be there when our old boiler fired up for the first time in nearly 6 months. So far so good but it will only be on to take the chill when needed.

It's a disgustingly miserable day here in the South West - howling a gale and raining like the coming of days - heating was on when I got in but I've told OH to turn it off. Might do a fire in the log burner later but for now I can cope with some extra layers and a few candles! Apparently it was set to automatically come on under 18 degrees so we've adjusted it down a little to 16.5 degrees.

  • I'm feeling okay now but I was feeling chilly all day. I think it is because there wasn't any sunshine as it isn't actually that cold. Over 17 now in my living room.

I put my thermal top under my top and will have a bath before bed.  I think I will put a hot water bottle in the bed too and I'm under my fleece blanket on the sofa now.

I have succumbed this evening having seen the weather forecast for the next few days. The boiler temperature has been adjusted for efficiency but the heat takes longer to build up. We have gone a few days longer than last year without heating so I feel pretty good about things so far.

My 2 bed mid terrace had an upstairs/downstairs temp of 15.5C for the last day, it's dropped to 14.5 in the last few hours.
Looks like it may get colder where I am next few days too, however I've not put the heating on yet and hope I won't for another couple of weeks at least...
