Where I live in North West England it's been more damp than really cold with lots of rain the past few months, in fact, all year has been wet except for that heatwave. So even though temps are not to bed - 15 - 17 during the day and 8-12 at night and the house fairly warm, faces East to West heating has come on for short periods. We leave the thermostat on 18 during the day and turn it down to 16 at night but often have to lower it during the day when the back door is open as even if the house still feels warm any coldness coming in kicks off the heating as back door leads straight to hall where main radiator and thermostat is and even if every other one is turned down to frost protection that one cannot be adjusted so comes on.
We do have a gas fire but apart from when its put on during the annual check its never been used since we had central heating fitted in 2009 and we annoyed the fitters as they thought it was to be removed but I kept it for emergencies and just hide it behind a nice fire screen. Also, have some plug-in oil-filled radiators for an emergency also if CH breaks down so we can have heat elsewhere as both of us now are getting on but dread to think what they will cost to run. Must actually check they work as bought them earlier this year and still in their boxes.
Have bought DH an electric blanket - he didn't want one as he prefers to turn the heat up after he has put fleece on but we both caught Covid for the first time last month and he lived on the couch while really bad and kept shivering and so bought I, online from Argos, same day delivery as of course I could not get out, in fact, either of us as yet has been up to going out, even now 7 weeks on since it hit us and 4 weeks since testing negative and he found out how lovely it was. I was the opposite I had and still have terrible sweats so heating on and often still is the last thing I want. He has not used it in weeks but now it's there if he feels chilly.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Friday, in rural south somerset, was either drizzling or pouring all day, no chance of going outside - the weekend was mostly wet but 2 to 3 sunny hours each day, still mild enough outside for a t-shirt - Today mild again with sun and showers- 19.5 indoors at the moment.3

Still off , 17 in my living room, heating is off at the boiler at the moment but my timer has settings so When I switch the boiler on it will only come on for an hour in the early evening if the temp is below 18 , and the overnight temp is below 8 . I am under a throw with thermal top ,fleece and feather gilet. With very cold feet.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5

We're having a lot of weather thrown at us today - we've had torrential downpours, regular rain, bright sunshine, drizzle, grey skies followed by blue sky with fluffy white clouds and then shuffle and repeat. I've gone from driving with sunglasses on and car windows open to having to shelter in shop doorways before attempting the dash to the car. But overall, it's been a pleasant day and indoor the thermometer is saying we're at 17.2 degrees with the french-doors open and this is usually the time when the house feels at its coldest (3-6pm-ish) warms up after then even if we don't have heating on!
But looks like this time next week temps will have dropped by about 5 degrees here - down to 12 or thereabouts. But my heating will still be off next week even if it does because I will be cheating - I'm off on a 4-night caravan holiday on the north yorks coast with gas and electric included so I have no doubt that I will be luxuriating in having the caravan's central heating running at some point even if I wouldn't have done at home

Still no sign of having to use any heating. 17.8c in the home office @ 08:30, start work @ 10:30 so expect the sunlight to have warmed it a bit more by then.
Had my 50-year-old single glazing replaced with double glazing the first week in October so really pushing on through to not using any heating for as long as possible, the difference is very noticeable. Total gas cost inc standing charge from Sept 6th to yesterday has been £36.31 with £24.01 of that being spent in October- looks out of balance but it includes the price rise.2 -
Living room right now is just 15 degrees. Eating breakfast with cold hands , feet are chilly too in socks and slippers.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5

No heating on here yet either. It's definitely cooler of late but not at all cold.
Weather app says it's 8'c outside, I don't know what the temp is in here. I really must buy a thermometer.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -
It was weird weather here yesterday. I went out about 10 and it was really grey and blustery, then sunshine and blue skies around 1 and then a heavy downpour of rain about 2.30.
My thermometer says it is 16.4 today and it feels slightly chilly.
I read this morning that it is meant to get colder mid November.3 -
We gave in yesterday - co-incidentally having been basically off till November. When we got in it was 15.5 so we put the heating on for half an hour which was enough, with having dinner and layering up, to last the evening. This morning the outdoor temperature was 7C, I forget what indoors was. I put the heating on till it reached 16 degrees and now I'm staying active so as not to feel the need.
This evening we have guests so it will go up to 18C while they're here.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

No heating on here in coastal Sussex either. It's really warm today but we also invested in warm slipper boots, thick pyjamas and we already have fleecy dressing gowns. We lit the fire last night and I usually put hot water bottles in the beds about half an hour before we go up.
it was a bit nippy getting up at 6.30 this morning but nothing we can't cope with. So the heating is definitely nowhere near going on here, fortunately we are all quite hardy and are quite comfortable at 17.4
