    Heating still off here in Kent.  We have a log burner we light at night.  It's mild down here at the moment.

    cornishchick - I know just where you're coming from!  I was a carer for my late DF during the last 2 to 3 years of his life and his house was so warm it was like being in a sauna.  His gas bills were horrendous - heaven knows how he would manage now if he were still here.  He had a daily visit from the community nurse to dress his legs (ulcers) and she would take off layers of clothing before she started.  I would often make excuses to go outside for a minute or two to cool down - to empty the kitchen bin, put out the bins for collection the next day, close the gate and so on.  He was in his late 80s with very poor mobility and dementia so it was a relief when he moved into a care home, especially as he had a habit of "fiddling" with the boiler that he didn't really understand.

    We've had the heating on for about 40 minutes this morning and I can see it going on again later tonight for a wee while.  The sun was out this morning but not really long enough to warm up the house much; since then it's been very dull and grey.  The thermometer in the living room says it's 18.3c but I think it's telling me fibs - it doesn't feel anything like that!   ;)
    Be kind to others and to yourself too.

    Log burner IS heating though. Well it is for me!
    But we have to give credit to Madbat for her name. Tickled me, anyway.

    My termostat is set to start heating, once tempreture in the house will be below 16 degrees. It's not yet, so heating is not on.

    @Cherryfudge
    this time last year I was working in care homes, so warm out of necessity( temps of 21/22,) but the difference in temps  from inside and out was so noticeable. and I found even 18 at home felt chilly.  you might have something in your theory .
    this year I am more community based and some homes are roasting and some cooler. it makes it harder to dress appropriately, so I am constantly layering up and dressing down.

    Yes, care homes do tend to be roasting! They are also protected as much as possible from power cuts. A friend told me if the weather gets too cold he will go to his Mum's care home (he does go daily so not such a change of behaviour).

    Dh and I work for different departments of the same employer, and both of us find our workplaces too warm.

    I'm another who thinks the heating going on applies to any heating where the primary purpose is to heat the home. With that in mind, who has changed to winter bedding? We keep not getting round to putting out the winter duvet, but there are now two blankets over the summer one and it's lovely and snuggly. I know that when the warm weather comes in spring, I will miss the weight of winter bedding.

    @YoungBlueEyes, I was in your neck of the woods today (well, Stamford Bridge) and the weather was glorious.
    I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
    The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)
