OrkneyStar said:We don't have central heating - the storage heaters have died and we are currently saving/deciding what sort of heating we will replace them with. We use panel heaters upstairs as we need them (not that often and not for very long). We have all adapted to living in a colder house, we wear layers, use blankets, air the house (to help with potential damp), sometimes use the dehumidifier (mostly to help dry clothes as we often cannot line dry due to weather). We live in the Northern Isles, so it's really not warm a lot of the time!4

I am so grateful I live in one of the driest and sunniest parts of the country! It's so delightfully warm inside I've almost forgotten what winter is like
I am sure a hefty bill come October will remind me.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

i have a problem that my house is always cold, i have high ceilings and we don't get much daylight to warm the rooms which means the heating is generally always on. It's quite common in the summer to have a temperature outside that allows BBQ, shorts and t-shirts and we STILL have the heating on indoors. On the upside when lots of people are struggling to sleep in the heat of summer we've never had that issue.
We've never really worried about how much with use the CH, but with the prices as they at its now suddenly a worry, i've turned all the heating off... but today i went outside to garden in a t-shirt and then came inside and donned a jumper and electric throw... crazy indeed!

Happy_Sloth - We have the same problem with our living room where we spend most of our time and the bedroom above. They're west facing and don't get any sun until late afternoon - good on hot days as it's nice and cool but cold for most of the year. Back bedroom faces north so always cold. Bathroom, kitchen and main bedroom face south and can be unbearably hot in summer.
Our central heating has been off since the beginning of April but some mornings we still have to put it on manually for a short while, especially if it's been cold overnight. Hopefully, that shouldn't be needed soon.Be kind to others and to yourself too.1 -
I had to put mine on low for a couple of hours this evening as I got bone-cold earlier and then sat in the unheated hairdressers for three hours which made it even worse. Maybe I am coming down with something but I hope there aren’t many more days like this before October.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Chilly here today compared to how it has been lately. Managed to keep busy and not put the heating on and tonight we both have a cosy hot water bottle, bliss.

£1,400 pa isn't bad given that others are looking at £3k. I have no idea where they would get that kind of money from!No man is worth crawling on this earth.

I had to think twice but decided that I can’t possibly put the heating back on in June. Here in North Lincolnshire it is cold and glum so I’ve resorted to going to bed early with my new electric blanket on and wearing a pair of flannellette jimjams to cheer myself up a little. I do feel for any folk planning a street party or other outdoor event because it would have been very uncomfortable- when we went for a walk earlier I had to wear gloves!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14
