We haven't needed to put ours on yet, thankfully. We set our thermostat at 18C

Our Heating kicked on this evening at 18 (we had put it on for a couple of hours one day a few weeks ago as after days of rain but not since). Stepped outside to put rubbish in bins and could see my breath out there, certainly is nippy outside.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Thermostat kicks in in the morning to take the chill off the air but the house soon warms up once the sun rises.2

Heating is off.... but, I live with the human boiler... who says, you like me in winter and tell me to get over to my side of the bed the rest of the year. I do wear a mans Marks fluffy dressing gown (and being short) comes down to my feet and the collar above my ears, maybe month end the stove will go on.
Anyway - We are away for 3 weeks in December.... if anyone else has a winter break can you make any suggestions for heat / boiler settings, please and what you do? Also, family are not involved so no one pops in to turn on / off.
Set at a ??? temp at a certain time of day on a timer, or leave at say 11 and let boiler kick in?
Would appreciate a suggestion from anyone who does go away in winter and has found what works best for them. All suggestions still welcome.
Note - Old 1920 house, no cavity (single brick, high celling and big rooms), we live in a barn! We left the heating off last year and it was Baltic... it's not every year this happens but I go away for health and do not want to undo the benefits when I get home to an icebox.

We often go away for a month in winter and tend to leave the thermostat at 16 and have it set to come on for an hour morning and evening. This seems to stop the place getting too cold but doesn't cost a fortune as the boiler only comes on if the weather is really bad.
If you have a frost setting (which is about 12 and required by some insurance companies if the property is left empty for any length of time) then you can use that but we find that set so low that the place takes ages to warm up again because it's got so cold.

Mine is still off, although it was 4C here this morning I didn't feel unduly cold. Maybe I am getting used to it. It's very noticeable here that few people have their boilers on at the moment as there is a distinct lack of condensation. Inside it's 17C and normally I would have the CH on at this stage. I hope to hang on until the clocks change, but won't risk my health as a result.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Its cold here but mine is still switched off as I'm not prepared for the heat to escape from the space where there should be a set of solid double front doors. I'm wrapped up snugly atm and when I get too cold I'll get some exercise and see how I get on.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.2 -
Chomping at the bit & a little too eager to burn here as over prepped & ready for winter.Don't really need to light the wood stove as the recent draught proof mods seem to have worked a treat but the pyromaniac within means it has been fired up a few times ( just to make sure all is working well of course
