The newer, slimline radiators are much more efficient than the old type. You also need much smaller ones for decent heat and therefore it releases a lot of wall space and is more flexible. With no heating on yet the temperature in the house is 6C higher than outside and looking at the long-range forecast for the month it doesn't look like being really cold yet. I will try and hold out until the clocks change, but may get over-ruled!

I put mine on for an hour on Thursday as it was really chilly first thing and I wanted to make sure it was working ok ready for the colder weather, but fortunately, I haven't needed it on since.
  • On. I have a 5 year old so need to have it on but only goes on in the night and mornings. I buy warm overalls and slippers for us all to wear during the day. I still remember the days I had to wear a coat inside the house because I ran out of gas on the prepayment meter
  • We put the winter duvet on at the weekend but the heating is still off for now.  I'm hoping we can get to November without it.  When we re-fixed our energy bills a few months ago, the best deal was 30% above what we'd been paying.  We went with Avro Energy who went bust last week.  We are currently being moved to Octopus apparently, and the new price will be higher still.  The blankets have come out, and the scented candles, which makes it feel warmer when snuggled up watching TV with the other half.  Love this time of year!
  • My heating is off but I don't think I can keep it that way much longer - I could see my breath in the bathroom this morning! I'll probably put it on at least for a little bit at the weekend to check it works.

Ours is still off as the boiler is broken and not being replaced until Monday. Summer duvet still on too but will be changing that at the weekend.  Jumpers, slippers and blankets👍

Off here, but I think the one will have to go on soon to get clothes dry. Mine are all electric so I can just turn one on instead of all or nothing

Ours went on the other day. It was very chilly yesterday but warm and sunny today. It's very changeable at the moment.

    Heating is off.
Windows are partly open in the day and I still have the summer duvet on the bed.

Mine has been going on every day since last week but only when I'm downstairs (I take the wireless thermostat into the room I'm in), so it's off when I'm working in my spare room upstairs and on in the evenings downstairs.  For me heating is one of my few luxuries, along with a bath!  When I was struggling for money I remember wearing fluffy clothing and heating up hot water bottles thinking "when I earn more, I'll heat the home more".  Might have to revert back to this or spend more time upstairs depending how high my energy bill will increase!
