Is your heating ON or OFF?

On downstairs, but not upstairs, which seems to be warm enough overnight and early in the morning from the residual heat. Not is the electric UFH in bathrooms and the kitchen on yet, and the floors aren't feeling cold.
I need to bring some logs in, as I think it's getting to the time of year when lighting the stove will make things feel a lot cosier.1 -
Just put ours on for 20minutes coz we have just got back for a very wet dog walk. Off again now and we will see how it goes.1

I broke and have run it for an hour a day from last Saturday. I was at my desk all of last weekend and just couldn't cope with the cold but an hour has been enough. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.1 -
Just my annual reminder that suffering in cold weather can be a false economy if you become ill as result. See NHS advice on staying well in winter. https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-body/keep-warm-keep-well/Free thinker.:cool:4

Heating has been switched on since 1 October but didn't actually kick in until yesterday (3 October) and then not for long. It must have been cold first thing today as it switched on but it didn't yesterday morning. It's on timer to come on at 5pm but hasn't kicked in yet!

Spamtastic said:Ours went on yesterday. We’ve had almost two weeks of rain here in Cambridge and it was beginning to feel damp in the air. The tipping point was when the towels were still damp from the previous day’s shower!
This happened to us today. Our towels were cold and damp still from yesterday so we've popped the heating on for half an hour. Hoping that will be enough to warm the air as it was so very damp.

Our heating is on auto and has kicked in every morning this week but not in the evenings. Our new home seems to retain the heat quite well. Lit the woodburner on Saturday night but mainly for cosiness as snuggled up with Mr.D watching Dr.Zhivago with a bottle of wine. Not dim

Ours is still not on. The dehumidifier is on as long as we are home now though, that helps keep the moisture out of the air. Nearly always use the dehumidifier when we put our washing up anyway.
We have our 4.5tog duvet on the bed and we sleep with the window on latch most nights still.
Honestly our neighbours (especially the side of our living room) seem to heat their homes so much that I'd overheat if we put our heating on now!I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
You're lucky @Doom_and_Gloom to. have neighbours who heat their home and help keep yours warm; our neighbours live in a caravan during the summer (and are still there now!) so no heating in their house until at least November. Having said that our heating is switched on but hasn't been coming on although some mornings we use the 1 hour boost just to warm the property up a bit so heating not fully on yet. Once it gets colder outside we'll probably need to increase the temperature so that it comes on more regularly.

I think the amount t of heating needed will always depend on which part of the country you're living in, with the far north always being colder than the south so one always has to plan clothing and insulation needs with that in mind.2
