Trying to keep the CH off as much as we can today. Keeping to the timed use of 4 hours with no overriding the control.

I have a new Loop monitor and it is very accurate to cost in money for each day. They sell them an Amazon but my set was given to me :0)

Really cold here,Ch went on low at 5 and will stay on till about 9.

This is the sort of weather I have been saving the heating for,I can put it on with out worrying to much.
  • Nope. Sheep can stay out in the cold and freeze their knackers off. Here, central heating is on. 24 hours a day. Programmable thermostat. Nice and cosy.

Current monthly cost Feb 14 through Jan 15 £76. Gas and Electric.
  • Ah bliss, the programmable thermostat has the temperature nice and balanced this morning. And I did not touch the thing. Not touched it since I installed it and programmed it last September.

    Rubs warm toes.
  • Even more bliss, even warmer toes. Just bin to the nrg supplier, switched for free to the lower fixed rate!! Get Inn.

Now running at £71 a month from today. And with another cut next month, here we go!
  • Its on when I need it to be and off when not. I pay £23 a month for gas and electricity with npower. Might rise a bit as Ive used more this winter than last but not concerned.

Make sure you phone your metre readings 2 or 3 times a year so you you are paying what you are using , otherwise you may get an expensive bill when it all catches up......

I phone my readings through so I know whether im in credit or debit and adjust it accordingly .....
Had the heating on and off today but now lit the fire and sitting down, lovely after a busy day........

Yes, that is why it is so low. And it is going down by £5 by switching tariff today!!

    Tips by BoP

1 Programmable Thermostat, set 14 overnight, 17 in morning, 16 during the day. 18 in the evening. On all day! Thermostat valves, about as much toss as a chocolate fireguard

2 Readings applied every two months

Never more than £150 in credit, don't give them a penny more

I am testing a spreadsheet that keeps a check on this, and the watter as well!

I have my heating on for when I get in from work and for about 3 hours over the evening. I dont have the heating on in the morning as I am always running around, DS is up and out and so is OH so dont think it is worth it unless the house was freezing
  • My heating is off for now (until daughters dad gets up) he puts it on daily, I have got the fire on 2 bars so this keeps it warm in the room where I am :).
