Off here in Essex, although it was sunny again today in the tiny fishbowl flat. Did a quick wash of the front windows/doors, as I see 10 days of rain predicted, boo hoo.
Starting to get ready though...washed down the inside doors/windows so that I can put out the door draft protectors tomorrow. They do a lovely job of blocking the draft at the seam.
Did warm cooking of jacket potatoes, I do a load of them and then reheat later as needed during the later days.
I cannot complain as November is a well good go to not give the energy providers any more extra money til now.0 -
On this morning and this evening for a while, it was lovely and sunny during the day so I managed to line dry the washing and had the back door open for a couple of hours. Raining now which is keeping the chill at bay.0

My Oh has a enlarged heart and suspected COPD (awaiting confirmation)so this has made me think maybe when he is home the CH needs to go on for a while.
similar here, my dh has heart failure and mild copd, so no risks taken. Stove went on this morning and turned it off when I came down, it only needed 2 hours and the whole house is cosy. I think it will only need every other day at the moment.0 -
That is terrible that some people can't afford to heat their homes, that shouldn't be happening in a country like ours.
I had the hot water bottle out last night and it felt lovely pressed on my tummy.:A I think I might buy a few more and have them dotted around the bed as when I woke up my dog was lying on it so he was getting all the warmth.;)HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

We lit the stove again yesterday in the evening, it seems to dip in temperature as it gets dark and the stove just warms the lounge very quickly and then the rest of the house is gradually warmed just a bit as the masonry warms around the stove. It's lovely when you're not feeling 100%!0

I've been putting mine on for 20 minutes here and there in the day. Yesterday I had it turned on but the thermostat is set to 18 degrees so it only actually comes on when the temperature drops below that so it wasn't on once the house warmed up.
I've had to order some non slip slipper socks/slippers for my DD (1 next month) as she is walking now but unsteady and had a nasty slip the other day, for now she is barefoot (we have laminate flooring) so her tootsies get coldStay at home Mum to DS Oct 2011 and DD Dec 2013

Off here today, living room thermometer says 16C so has definitely dropped a couple of degrees inside - still feel quite happy with that temperature though have noticed it feel a little bit colder when I get up. 14C usually the point where I start thinking it's cold enough to burn some gas, lol! Will see how I feel when it drops more!0

I have just watched an energy prog on channel 3, omg I feel so much for the people who cannot afford energy. Recommended temperatures are 18 in the bedroom and 21 in the lounge and if the body starts cooling, as in the programme, then people feel well but the blood pressure rises and they are in danger of heart attacks and strokes.
We are all paying about £60 a year for useless green energy and I am stomping mad, so unfair to the poorer members of society.
I watched that as well and when Ed Davey said that they are protecting the most vulnerable in society I nearly threw something at the TV, there were a lot of expletives I can tell you
The government advice for the poorest is a disgrace in one of the richest countries in the world

The amount of deaths attributed to the cold is absolutely scandalous!
Why have the cartels been allowed to get away with price rises of 62% since 2008?
I wish DH's wages had kept up, but they haven't and now IDS wants to punish the poorest and vulnerable more with his universal car crash:mad:
Aaaargh my blood pressure!Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

The mild weather seems to have returned here, although it's been wet and windy today it's a lot warmer than it was at the beginning of the week. I was diagnosed with copd almost 8 years ago and like kittie's and mrsr's DH's, suffer in the cold. I've already had had my first ci of the wnter and expect at least 3 more
. I won't scrimp on heating but use it sensibly, if the temp in the house is over 18c there's no need to put it on. Keeping moving keeps me warm and keep my lungs clear, I bought a small treadmill last year and it's been a godsend. Here's hoping it stays mild a little longer.
