I am sitting at my desk top computer with a throw over my legs.
I have had a hot drink out of my keep warm mug.

Done the big SWITCH ON! the CH will now come on for 4 hours a day. Will over ride on colder days.

I think we have done well to last till 5th November.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

I set it to come on this morning for an hour, then was out for the rest of the morning. It's quite chilly now so have just switched it back on as can't breathe when the air is cold (copd). I think the Indian Summer is over, but as good advice says we've done very well to last this late into the year.

Thank you for the info moments_of_sanity, a drop in the ocean is better than a drought ;)

Off here because I don't know how they work :o (just moved in, estate agent didn't bother to tell us!)

They're weird electric ones, no thermostat and each individual heater has it's own settings.

Off. I'm aiming for November 15th. But I may have to take how OH feels on board as he's been complaining a bit. I just put my son to bed with a hot water bottle and there he stays till morning so I don't see that I'm doing him down in anyway. Plus until the frosts kick in I don't think we need it.

5 degrees outside, 19.9 upstairs and 22 down on the south side where the main living is. Just drawn the big wool curtain for the first time this year and have 3 candles burning in lovely stainless steel lanterns. They have a good amount of metal at the top, which is already very warm, so will act as mini radiators. That is the only heating we need until the internal downstairs temperature gets to below 20 and that will not happen if we get any sun during the day
  • He Who Knows has just lit the stove up for the first time this winter, I must admit it's jolly chilly here tonight as we have a very clear sky and a beautiful full moon. I'm sat shivering in 3 layers of sensible clothing so it's maybe the right time to do so.
  • Heating on timed to come on at 6 in the mornings , I turn it off when im ready , I have lit the fire and its feeling lovely and cosy , outside its torrential rain , thankfully it will stop fireworks going off for the usual bonfire night......

On here, I hate ,hate ,hate being cold. I would rather starve than be cold, so I just pay the blessed bills.:(

I keep it on all day as it's a big house with massive high ceilings and takes forever to heat up, so it's easier for me to keep it warm.

On, finally, thanks goodness! Being used wisely and parsimoniously, but it is warming the fabric of the house and drying up the condensation in the windows and bathroom tiles.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
