Definitely cooler here today but the heating is still off.
I found some tomatoes in the garden this afternoon that had rippened, I thought I had pulled them all out, but there were a couple of little pots in amongst the herbs
I am holding off for as long as I can and the wood/coal stove will go on before I consider putting on the central heating.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

If I need heating on I'll put it on especially if I'm getting drenched at work.
I'm not in competition with other posters, I wouldn't compromise my health for some silly idea that we're all 'braver' than those who turn their heating on first. I am in competition with my utility provider though, I plan to give them as little as possible from my purse.

I don't feel like this thread is about competition, for me it's about not handing over so much of our hard earned cash, I like being warm but hate the type of heat you get from central heating.0 -
MY HEATINGS ON :j Boiler people have finally turned up to fit the water pump and I'm not ashamed to say tonight will be spent frolicking round in warmth along with a FULL hot bath rather than the 2 inches of hot the immersion heater has been giving us..:TThriftkitten

I timed the GC heating to come on at 6 this morning , so it was lovely to wake up to warmth.....I had it on for about an hour , ive just lit my open fire and its a real comfort as the temperatures are now on the way down at 5.20 pm , I only heat this this room of a night as theres only me here , so it keeps the gas bill down.....The dog is now flat out on the hearth rug , so we are both warm and happy.......
I do start the fire with about 3 large lumps of house coal then burn free wood rest part of night , coal give it a good base...My motto is " one life live it ".....:)0 -
On low temp, all day.
Little parrots aren't designed for cold/damp English winters.
Came in the other night and he was all puffed up and grumpy looking.
I was suitably guilt ridden and the heating went on0 -
Heating is on now, as it is very chilly here.
Hopefully won't be be using as much gas, as I had a new Combi Boiler and Rads installed today.0 -

I've got the kiddies hot water bottles out tonight. Even DS, the sweatiest boy in town, is sleeping in pjs at the mo. Little DD likes nighties so is having last winters leggings and longsleeve vests underneath. Time to be cosy and lock the doors / close the curtainsBossymoo
