  • No CH on timer yet, but due to really heavy rain I've had the cH on today. Woodburner will be on over the weekend, and I'm trying to get to 1st November without having the heating coming on in the mornings! OH will cave before me.

Time for the thicker duvet though.

not using the heating yet, but i did sleep with the bedroom window closed last night for the first time in 6 months.
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"
  • It's not cold enough for CH yet, nor for my newly installed woodburner, but I've got to practise starting and controlling it so that it burns efficiently, don't you all agree? Well, that reason assuages my guilt a bit. :D

I came in today after a week away and lighting the ready laid fire was a great welcome home and took the edge off the chill. Collecting wood for the last year means I've a good, free supply, and most importantly it's under 15% moisture.

Friday I'll try to be good and not light it, but Sunday it'll definitely be lit when I get in cold, and probably wet and muddy, after football. Bliss..

Put mine on for half an hour yesterday, just to check boiler is working properly as heating probably hasn't been on since March, just hot water. It's nowhere near cold enough here for heating (north east).
  • Still off here in Wiltshire.
Mr Christmas moaned this morning that it was cold whilst wondering around in nothing more than his under garments  I swiftly called out to all the little people wrapped up in fleece pjs & onesies to see if they were cold (they were not) so Mr C can go to work & put the CH on there!
Our bedroom window is still open as i prefer to sleep in fresh air than stuffiness but we do have thick duvets & flannelette bedding to snuggle.
I don't have a tumble dryer, never have had & never will do now out of pure stubbornness! I would have loved one whilst the children were young but we could never afford one so managed/struggled/dangledfromthedoors&curtainpoles for the last 16yrs ... so why quit now?!:rotfl:
I tried to make a conscious effort to conserve the warmth given off of the gammon roast last night but little feet running in&out, leaving doors open to play with friends proved my attempt futile!
Still, we have a large 3 wick candle in the living room that takes the edge off of the cold if needed, also a small electric fire & electric fan but i need to work out which one is cheaper to run & also where I can replace the candle. Don't want to pay more than the £7 I originally paid in Mataland 2yrs ago.
I've waffled so much I forgot where I was going with this!
Will pop back when I remember!
  • Off here too, just me here in the day as little ones all in school. Got nippy on the school run this morning and cant warm up so may go and make a brew and do some jobs.

  • I did trial the CH system last night, as I did my washing and needed to get clothes dry, and it's not warm enough to just air dry them now...

For heating purposes still off, but good to know it's in working order after its summer holiday!

Wet and miserable here today and a lot cooler, but I still haven't caved.
We all have our slippers on and our thick woolies and feel warm enough.
I said to DH it is not cold enough until I have to wear my fingerless gloves at the computer and even then I will think about it :D
I got £300 back from BG this year for the gas bill and they have reduced my DD because of it and I am still £104 in credit.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

    Not Buying it 2015!
  • Nope - haven't caved in just yet. Finally wore a jumper for the first time since April and glad my partner bought my new winter coat (an earlier birthday present) when he did! Slippers on, thick socks and plenty of warm drinks.
