Just felt a bit cooler this week , so I'm now putting my fleecy short dressing gown on over my PJ's to watch TV.
And I think I'll pop a blanket on the bed tonight , although we still have the 4.5 tog summer duvet on , but I might put 10 tog on this weekend.
Really want to last until October.

Would like to get to back end of September/beginning of October before I put our heating on, it remains off for the time being.

I feel the cold quite alot but I've made a conscious effort to put extra layers on, hoodies, slippers etc and have a blanket over me on the sofa if I feel chilly. DD (7) normally complains about the cold but she has just been snuggling under blankets and wearing longer ok'd to bed, bless her!

I try to stick to warm clothing including poncho over my jumper. Few days ago my Reynaulds triggered and I stuck my gloves on. Warm this afternoon without.

May i ask where you got the poncho please sounds like a really good item to have hope you are nice and warm now

Re heating i hope to keep it off till end of October at least got cezer to keep me warm hes way hotter than a hot water bottle and no refilling needed well except a treat now and then

finding it difficult to get sorted for winter this year when you are the only person who's trying to cut back it's not easy, being on pre paymeter means no money no heating so lots of jumpers etc i haven't had a poncho since i was little many years ago

Hoping that ours can stay OFF until 1st November.

However, we live in an upstairs flat - downstairs tenant is an elderly lady who put hers on in September last year, and we noticed immediately when she DID :D. This will only be our 2nd full winter here as we moved in Dec 2012.

Hope she doesn't realise how much we benefit from her heating - she might just send us the bill to share :rotfl:.

We have absolutely huge windows that get the sun all afternoon - so as long as it's a 'sunny day', we have a warm living room and bedroom - even when the day itself if quite chilly. However the opposite is also true - as soon as the rain/wind arrive our windows are immediately affected and the temps drop rapidly. At this time of year, I close the blinds and thermal-lined curtains as soon as it starts to go dark. That usually helps to 'cosy the place up' :D.

Ponchos are great at keeping warm and you still have your arms free. I have a couple that I wear to walk the dog when it's cold out.

It's actually a nice day here, warm and bright but with a cooler breeze.

The heating is most definitely off.:D

My mid-floor flat tends to stay pretty constant in terms of temp all year round. I'm quite lucky in that I have either other flats, or corridors, on 4 of my 6 sides.
Last year my heating stayed off until mid-October I think. But even then I only use a portable heater in my living room. I never need the radiators on.
That being said, the electric blanket in my bed is used, in small amounts, virtually year round.

    Most certainly OFF.

I don't think there is any possible reason a healthy working age adult needs central heating this time of year! No wonder people moan about their bills lol.

Anything like chilly nights can be dealt with by more seasonally appropriate bedding/ clothing, and if desperate, make jacket spuds or toad in the hole which requires longer cooking time, and leave the kitchen door open.

I myself have started to alternate between summer cami top in bed and "tweenie" nightie (to be used in between extreme seasons Spring/Autumn) plus seriously considering if I need autumn blanket.

Nowhere near turning the heating on. Can't afford to anyway!

I hope everyone who can has taken advantage of the free cavity wall and loft insulation that the government is offering for free. My daughter has this year and you can tell the difference in her house already, so hope she has a warmer winter and smaller bills. Heating off but it is forecast to get warmer next week.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)
