  • Nice to have money to spend on just you, but decisions, decisions. Maybe you should spend it on something you wouldn't buy for yourself, and would be considered a luxury, so you would buy clothes normally.

    Does that make sense?

Hi you 2 :hello: Hope you're having a nice Christmas

Well I got off my bum and went for a run :j Only about 3-4 miles but better than nothing and the first babystep of my 2011 mission.
I'm not going to spend that money on clothes as you rightly said Gill, I am going to spend it on something I have long coveted but was always out of reach. I think the Garmin will help motivate me and help me accurately track my running progress and it *is* £100 cheaper than when I last looked, so I think it's ok to buy it.

As for the other stuff, well I'm still debating......:)

Hi Macgirl - I hope you had a lovely Christmas in your new house x

I have a garmin, and I love it - I don't use it to its full potential, but I do think it was worth the money (pooled all my birthday money a couple of years ago for it), so I would say go for it, personally :D

Goals for 2011 are looking good - I need to do the same over the next few days.

Good Evening, hope everyone's well :)
I survived the day at work, but was in a grump for most of it as I REALLY didn't want to be there :( However, I'm not back in now until the 4th so can't complain! :D:j

Last night I entered a 10k race for the end of Jan - so I have a good goal to aim for. I'm aiming to run in the morning and Friday, so if I do that I'll be very pleased with myself.
I *did* get some sandals and a woolly hat that I've been wanting and don't feel guity as it was a considered purchase, but I still can't bring myself to look at my bank accounts - which I know is an MSE sin :o:o:o

    So that's tonight's job........

Thanks, don't know if I'll enjoy it yet though. I was huffing and puffing like no one's business yesterday :o It was hard work. Once I shift a bit more poundage it'll get easier.
Just off to make some sort of healthy dinner.....(and avoid the last bowl of trifle in the fridge :o:o:o)

I've accomplished day 1 of my new regime. I've had 3 meals today, with no snacks :T

I normally graze all day, fruit, nuts etc - nothing bad (ok, biscuits :D), but I eat too much out of habit - not hunger. An article linking waist size to all sorts of health nasties has given me more focus today too. I am apple shaped and whilst my hips, bum and legs aren't a problem, my waist and upper half are.

Last year I said I wanted to lose weight, but in truth my focus was moving house. I *really* want to stay as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Since I had little DD, I have faced my mortality every day and need to get over that and put it to the back of my mind. One of my aunties has had a stroke this week. She's very healthy, eats well, exercises drinks green tea - the whole 9 yards. Now she can't even swallow :(

Puts everything into perspective and makes me all the more determined to lose weight and get back to exercising. Well after that little joyful post, I'm off to get my running gear ready and sort the laundry. Catch up later x

On the article, if it's the BBC one it gives a fixed size above which is bad, irrelevant or how tall you are which seems strange!! There's been a lot of research into waist to hip ratio, and most of that says that a ratio of 0.8 or less for women is to be aimed for, nearly, but not there yet though :o Using the combination of bmi and whr is what I'm using currently.

Sorry to hear about your aunt.
