Hope you had a lovely time and that the dress went down a storm.
(((hugs))) to you and yours over the death of your uncle. Even if it is expected, it doesn't make it easier, especially at this time of year.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Hello!
Had a good time last night. I was meant to drive but then my Mum offered to have the girls for a sleepover, so DH said he would work late (v. late 11.15pm  as he has loads on) so he picked me up :T
There were loads of different companies there, so around 800 people in all. It was entertaining with circus performers and live music, but if I'm honest it was all a bit too cheesy wedding/dad dancing for meI felt lovely in my dress and as I'd had my hair done earlier, I felt very glam
I had a good laugh with my colleagues so it was worth it.
We've just been to collect my car, so now I'm chilling on the sofa as I'm starting to feel a bit worse for wearDH has gone to find a Christmas tree from a farm, rather than a roadside. He likes to give the money back to the place it was grown, so is driving about 20 miles to get a tree
This morning, we had a plumber call round to diagnose the loud noise when we run the water in the bathroom. He couldn't find the exact cause, but said he's bring his boss round for a second opinion. DH questioned whether we needed an immersion heater *and* a combi boiler - we think not, but wonder whether it's been left in due to the size of the house. He suggested removing the cylinder tank and cold water tank from the loft and replacing them with a pressurised water tank.
DH asked if this would increase the water pressure into the shower so we can get rid of the shower pump - but as it won't make any difference to the pressure (and it'll cost about £1000) that doesn't seem necessary.
Anyway, that's an ongoing project, but hopefully the noise will be resolved soon...
Hope everyone's well and having a good weekend x0 -
Good Morning
Today we are going to Chatsworth House for a festive day :xmastree:I'm just making a stew for when we get back and making a packed lunch for the kids on the way there.
Last night I bought my last present :j:j:j, so tonight I *must* write some cards - I keep putting it off in the hope they'll write and send themselves!
Last night I mislaid my iphone - my *works* iphoneDH and I turned the house upside down looking for it. He even went out at 11pm with a torch - but we can't find it.
The silver lining is that we tidied the whole house up as we went - but it is lost
After Friday's manic day I'm not surprised, but I'm not looking forward to telling my boss tomorrow0 -
glad you had a good time on Friday and that the dress was worth the effort
Chatsworth sounds lovely today - am sure you will have a fab one. Shame about losing the phone, but who knows - it may just turn up unexpectedly. Have you reported it lost so that it gets locked?Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. No I haven't thought of that thanks
The battery was dead and I don't use it as my main phone so it's not grafted to my hand like my own!
My Uncle's funeral is on Friday - the day I am meant to be flying to Dublin for another (and most favourite) Uncle's surprise 60th party. I have to and want to go to the funeral, but it's at 11am and will be a Requiem mass followed by a burial followed by a get together with a whole (huge - my Dad's one of 14) family. We don't see other altogether that often, so that's another reason to be there.
Of course, I could change my flight - were it not with Ryanair  So I worked out last night it would be another £75 if I go at 7pm instead of 2pm - grrrr. I'm in a dilemma. On one hand I think "Life's too short" pay the money and go. On the other, it's alot of money to get there at 9pm and leave at 7am the next morning and I'll see my Uncle again - I won't get chance to pay my last respects to my late Uncle...
OR I could go to the church only, then leave for the airport on the flight I'm already booked on. That seems wrong, being all sad and solemn, then skipping off to a party....
Right off for a shower and sort my life out. I'm sure it'll work itself out - if only I could find the blinking phone...
Have a good day to anyone reading0 -
OK, stew is in the oven, packed lunches done, flasks are made, breadcrumbs from stale loaf blitzed bagged and in the freezer!
Dishwasher emptied and refilled, washer just finished, so I'll put the towels in before we go, then the uniforms in the dryer and look forward to ironing this evening. Not.
Right off for a shower and I'm going to try and squeeze in a car wash before we go!0 -
Morning macgirl,
if the iphone is works one, can you access work stuff on it - emails etc. in which case you need to report it asap.
Chatsworth House sounds like a lovely family day out, its nice to do things like that if you can.
Re: the funeral, I take it the Uncle that's passed away is the other side of the family from the party one? So there won't be other people with the same dilemma? Hope you sort it out.

Its all go for you! Hope Chatsworth was great, I'm sure it was - bummer to losing the phone tho, maybe its mislaid at work? Gill has a good point on the reporting it lost thing tho, just in case it really is lost....
The funeral and the party .... yes, it will all happen somehow, and you'll find the right way through - but honestly, your current travel arrangement sounds the best to me, even if it sounds a bit off to be in mourning and then in celebration .... that really is what happens - the day I took my driving test (I lived in London then) I had to get a tube straight afterwards to Euston and get back to Liverpool, for the funeral of my step-grandmother, who'd lived with us since I was 6. Not quite the same as a surprise party, but nobody plans a funeral, you have to do what you can.
Let us know what you decide.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
