You sound very organised. I've just looked in my cupboard and realised I need to do the pots of gold, before someone eats all the sweets.

Yes, I need to gather all the bits together for them. Part of me thinks can I be bothered, but for a more personalised gift for the same price as a bit of tat, I think it will be worth it!
  • Sounds like a good idea not to decorate before Christmas, like you say, once the tree is up, that will be the main focus.

I need to pop to my nearest outlet village tomorrow to get my dad a jumper for Christmas, is the 30% off at GAP in store, or did you print off a voucher?

I am also doing 'pots of gold' for my youngest two to give to their teachers, got some gold coins so far and made a note of the poem to put with it, just need to collect a few more bits

Hi MissO, the discount is just on sweaters in the main store (probably shouldn't have mentioned the store by name - sorry :o)

Anyway, I feel quite chilled tonight. I think this house has a good energy - or maybe it's just because we have more space - but I do feel so much calmer.
We're never going to have a spick and span house with everything in it's place, there are definite "hot spots", but it's so nice to no longer feel constantly overwhelmed and frustrated by our "stuff".
The last house was too small for us and our belongings and it got me down.

So certainly for the second half of 2011, we/I will be on a mission to drive down the mortgage, because all this has come at a price...
I'm going to do the sealed pot challenge and get my Ebay head on to continue to get rid of what we don't need and make a few extra £'s.

I know I sometimes say that I worry about being in debt again, but even today I could tell how much I'd changed. I only bought what I set out to. There were things I picked up - and even walked around the shop with, but after questioning whether I needed to buy it - put them back. It's a good feeling to be in control and realise that I don't need to consume to fulfill myself :)

I know it's a bit early, but it already feels like a new year and I think 2011 will be a good one for many of us on here

Morning, today I'm going to order the last of the pressies online - I so *love* internet shopping - no stress :D

Then DH and I have agreed to blitz the house, I'll do the ironing and prep a roast, then take little DD to a party this afternoon. That'll be about it for today.

I also need to email someone who is changing us to make a will. After the bad experience we had with the cowboy earlier in the Summer (and watching a programme about independent unscrupulous will writers) we're going to go with a Solicitor. I know it's more expensive, but it feels safer. That will be job number one in the New Year!

Also, I must try on my dress for our Christmas party on Friday. I have a bought a fabby dress, which in all honesty was too expensive and I'll hardly wear it, but it *is* special :D I bought it in London, then had a guilt attack and took it back:o
Then spoke to my boss about it, who said I was mad "what do I work for? saying I'll pay it off the mortgage is the beginning of the end" (so safe to say she's never been on THIS site :D)

Of course, then I pined for it and went on a mission to rebuy it - but it is limited edition and only sold in one branch in London. The one I took back to Manchester had sold :o As luck would have it, a friend was in London that day and went to shop and tracked one down for me :j:j:j So, I need to reacquaint myself with it, try it on with my shoes and see if it really *is* worth it!

It is my Christmas party on Friday too :D I bought a lovely size 8 (can you tell why i bought it lol) dress in the sale earlier in the year - bargainous £30 reduced from about £180....so the combination of the size label and the price made it a no brainer :rotfl:

My rule for my new house is that it is to be a "happy house". I am very much looking forward to that!

Well mine is not a size 8! My dress last year was £30 reduced from £150, but this year.......it's £30 +(100:o). S*d it though, I'm worth it! It's so long since I've spent anything on myself, so I'm not going to beat myself up. I've got shoes and a bag, so that will be my only expense.

I'll post a picture if I can find one

I don't think that is an unreasonable amount for such a dress, to be honest. OK, there are many years gone by when I wouldn't have paid that for a dress, but only on the basis that I didn't have the money to do so, or had other things such as skiing and school trips that came first.

Now, though, the new, almost debt free, single, looking good and having fun Hypno would say that it was more than worth having :D

I will post pics of mine after the party....so I can prove I fitted into it :rotfl:

Well it's sold out so no longer on line. It's a Kate Moss for TS dress with a long silk chiffon cape, edged with beads over the top of the dress (and it IS a bit over the top :D).
Anyway, I've just had another mild panic attack, so have put a few things in my "basket" with a view to buying a cheaper dress that I'll definitely wear again. I could "Zhuge" (sp)it with jewelery I already have or a headband - very this season!

KC, I'm always on the lookout for a bargain nowadays, but sadly I still seem to have expensive taste :(

Sometimes you just *have* to spend the money. It's different when there is no spare money and all you have is going on keeping your head above water, but once things start to level out, there is the view that 'what are you working for'.

If you don't spend on yourself occasionally it can start to get you down. I just hate clothes shopping.
